Snow !

Featured Replies

Do nothing sudden or excessive.

Turn gently, accelerate gently, brake gently. 4wd won't help you with braking so start braking much earlier than you would normally.

And as I was told, image you've got an egg between your feet and the pedals and you are NOT going to break it!!

Other than that remember that although 4x4 will get you up the hills, gravity will take you down them much more powerfully!!

Entertaining journey! Followed a LR Defender out of Hebden Bridge on the A6033 to Oxenhope Moor this morning, and an Audi Q7 was behind me. Just after Pecket Well the LR turned off down a farm track, and we carried on climbing ... with about 1-2 inches of snow on the road which had not been gritted. The Q7 I could see squirming a little in my wake, clearly struggling, and eventually he turned off into a bus layby. Betty, on her 4 seasons, ploughed on with a steady grip, not even the slightest slip. Down into Keighley and up onto Ilkley Moor, over the top by Cow and Calf and it was blowing a blizzard (road here also seemed untreated, saw a BMW 3 series, rear wheels spinning, trying to make it into the car park by C&C rock) and safely to destination. I did get out to try to take a picture, only to discover my phone battery was dead :(

Marsden Moor, Bucktones NT Car park 1450 ft above sea level just up the road from home at 9.40am ish dashed out as soon as I saw James`s post. Only a bit of snow but roads covered at around 1000ft +.

Looked very like that on Oxenhope this morning Peter, but when I got out to take a photo realised my 'phone battery was dead. Nice shots by the way.
