ive brought one of theses . Video in Motion for VW SKODA SEAT MFD2 MFD3 RNS510

Unlock your VW MFD2/3 RNS510 Factory system so you can view while driving.

If you have a factory fitted TV tuner you would be familiar with the scenario where you can watch TV/Video on your system while the car is stationary but cuts outs out and prevents you from using it when the car is in motion.

Our TV in Motion interface provides a simple and effective solution to this issue by unlocking TV/DVD system and allowing you to make full use of its features while driving. The interface simply connects to the back of your existing head unit and is 100% plug and play, no wiring cutting so there is no risk of voiding the warranty. Installation is as easy as removing the main wiring plug into the back of your radio system and then connecting it to one end of the interface, then connect the other end back in its place and your ready to go!

The harnesses are made using factory connectors to for complete compatibility and reliability and we also supply a 1 year warranty.

Compatible with the following radios:

MFD2

Nexus

MFD3

RNS510

Columbus

Not sure that will work, all that does is block the speed pulse via canbus getting to the headunit, if your Zenec does not use canbus then it will do nothing.

  • 3 years later...

Spent a chunk of the weekend wiring a Zenec ZE-DAB60 to my ZE-2010, Was well annoyed when the DAB screen cut out when driving so thank you for the security code (200 905) it worked a treat.

Also to anyone wiring a Zenec ZE-DAB60 on an Octavia II.  You need a +12v, ground and +12V switched (ACC)

On the Zenec side of the quadlock (black port on the car side) you can take the  +12V (fused) from the yellow cable BEFORE the zenec fuse and the ground from the black.

I just needed to get the ACC switched. So after breaking into the other 2 wires from the black port in the quadlock and testing them with a meter I eventually deduced they were can-hi and can-lo. Grr.  So Zenec sells a plug and go DAB unit that requires you to not only splice into the wiring but one of the wires on their target VAG group cars does not exist. Grrr.

Fortunately the ZE-2010 has two blue output lines - one was going to the aerial amp and the other was just hanging labelled amp. Hmm - I bet this is a signal line for an external amp. Tested it and sure enough 12V switched  to the ignition.

The CAN bus tells the Zenec if the ignition is on - apparently this is common for VAG group cars (always test with a meter though).  Hey Zenec how about some f%%%%ng documentation on all of this. :swear:

Other tips

  • The A pillar trim just pulls of but if you have curtain airbags you must first lever of the little airbag plastic plug near the top of the trim and undo the torx screw behind it (stops the trim becoming a missile by keeping it in place when the airbag fires). DO NOT FORGET TO PUT THIS BACK
  • Remove the glove box but DO NOT DETACH the airbag switch unless you either never switch the ignition on until you plug it back in, or you have access to VCDS to reset the airbag warning light. Easy enough to reset but dealers will charge you £45-80 for this 60 second job.
  • Also I removed some of the glove box plastic behind the airbag switch plug to make it easier to plug back in.
  • The supplied aerial is for left hand drive so is designed for the right hand A passenger pillar. I fitted it upside down to the left hand pillar and it works just fine.
  • You can lever out the tray with the vents above the head unit to help guide the unit in and tuck the wires away. You can also break away some of the plastic to the left of the unit to give more space for wires.
  • I used terminal blocks to test the connections then replaced with 1.5mm butt splice crimps (red) for the splices and spade terminals for the connection to the DAB60 wires. NOTE: By breaking into the wires and testing them before connecting to anything I discovered the CAN problem described above and avoided making a possibly expensive mistake.  I cant say this enough, if your not sure about the connections and are not able to test them then let a pro do it.
  • I had a old black 3 core kettle lead, chopped both ends off. Very useful to provide the extra wire from the quadlock connections I spliced into  to the DAB. I used the coding Earth= ground, Live= +12v and Neutral=acc 12v switched.
  • DAB60 and Zenec ipod ports are secured to the top of the glove box using heavy duty Velcro pads (easier than screws).
  • Ditched the Zenec TMC box and connected directly to the FM aerial. I have never received TMC info in Scotland so its one less bulky box behind the unit to find space for.

Phew that was a chunk of the weekend I just have the glove box to fit back properly when the snow stops.

The reason for embarking on this project was than my normal FM radio reception was getting worse. Usually fixed by taking the unit out and jiggling the antenna wire - loose connection somewhere.  Last Sat I found the real problem. The space was so tight that the wires were jammed hard up against the white Fakra radio aerial connector. Vibration from the car and road eventually damaged it over time. Me removing the unit was the last straw.

The metal part of the Fakra connection is riveted and soldered to the circuit board making replacement very hard. Yet the plastic part was a feeble clip on affair. If the plastic clip on bit fails the centre pin running between the 2 (i.e. the critical bit) is then damaged,

While I knew I had the DAB unit to install. I felt it was worth a punt to fix the FM aerial as well. The solution was to buy a neutral waterblue Fakra male plug to SMB and a short SMB extension co-axial cable to give me enough flexible cable to avoid it being tugged. I opened up the unit, drilled a hole in the back plate fed the cable through and soldered it to the connector points on the solder side of the PCB. A heap of hot glue from a glue gun to secure and it all now works fine plugged directly into the car's Female fakra antenna connector (I ditched the TMC box). Result  :D I now have good  FM?AM(that was the other part of my weekend).

Anyway I hope this will help other Zenec owners if they want to add DAB.
