Fabia Vrs Turbo Problem

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone help i think my turbo is on its way out but i am not sure.

i have a fabia vrs 2004 model

I was driving down motorway and put my foot down for a while all of a sudden i lost alot of power

for the rest of the drive i could just about get to 70mph

i got home turned it off waited 5mins turned it back on went for a little drive and it seemed ok

does this mean my turbo is on its way out????

Thanks

Probably an engine fault. Engine goes into emergency mode.

After restarting, every is back to normal.

I've had this problem because of a leaking air hose.

My vw jetta used to do that, is it mapped?

Sounds like sticky VNT mechanism on the turbo.

It will have overboosted then gone into limp mode to protect itself.

How many miles has it done? How hard do you normally drive the car?

Its done 71k miles now, brought it at 65k

I dont usually drive that hard just was in a hurry

And no its not remapped have been thinking of doing it tho :)

Sounds like a boost leak or vnt sticky.

Go blast it :D

sounds like sticking vanes on the turbo. Mine used to do it but i had it stripped and cleaned then drive it hard every weekend and its been fine for the last 18 months.

Take it for a brisk drive and see if this helps to clean the vnt, if not there are turbo cleaning products on the market which couldnt hurt :)

Needs a good italian tune up! Turbo may need cleaning / replaced or refurbished
