Careless "self abuser"

Your car is usually your second most expensive object you own after a house if you own one, or the most expensive item you own.

If you take the price of the car and what you actually get paid for an hours work and work it out it usually works out at one hell of a lot of time and effort, not to mention the time and effort spent keeping it looking good.

If people feel so inclined to disrespect peoples valued possetions just because they don't care why should we all have to be good little automatons and just bend over and take it?

While I'm not condoning damaging someone elses car I can see that side. I've actually seen someone in an old rusty car (boodywork looked like it had been washed with gravel) drive past 18-20 empty space to proced to park 6 inch's from the door of my 4 month old car. Simply put WHY? If you had park one space over would I have been bothered NO. Your disrespecting my stuff and my personel space and thats somethign I've got no time for.

Though in all honesty I think this just leeds back to the fact that the justice system is useless the Hippy happy Huggers have removed all proper dissiplin from schools and home for children. Now we are suffering the fruit of the generation of adults that have never had to know the true consequnces of carelessness. I say take away some of the idiot proofing that modern health and safety brings about if you can't work out that sticking a conductive metal object in a plug socket is a bad idea maybe you need to learn the hard way.

Sorry about the spelling but I'm ****ed off and I'm not retyping this post again.

^ what he said!

Just got home from picking SWIMBO up from work and am rather p!ssed off.

There I am, sat in the car and a family approach and get into the car next to me (now anyone who knows me will tell you how anal I am about my car, keeping it clean and generally looking after her). So, the woman opens her car door, I'm sat there cringing cos she wasn't the smallest of women, and gets into the car, then decides to get back out to take her coat off and "ding" her door hits mine! Not a happy bunny, I jump out and look - the first car park dent - great! She says to me "what's the problem?" So I (calmly as I can) inform her she's put a nice little dent in my door, then the husband pipes up "accidents happen" and starts to get lairy. I turn to him and inform him that I am aware of this but if you have respect for other peoples property, then they shouldn't happen! With that he then starts to say the dent doesn't line up with his door and so on which I showed him and proved my point. Anyway I'm now totally p!ssed off that I now have my first dent after 8 months of having and really looking after my pride and joy, worse could've happened but even this didn't need to! Sad I know but now very upset! :-(

Rant over (for now)

If he thinks he is right and says accidents happen then simply jump back in your car and slam your door into his...accidents happen  just fast forwarding the karma

can stand people like this, alot of people pay alot of money for their car and jerks like this annoy me.

car parks can be bitter war at times

It sucks when that happens

French car - French attitude!

Well done for bringing the casual stereotypes into conversation.

How do you feel about people who drive czech or german cars? Are they all the same, too?

Buy a cheap child seat and put it in the back when you go shopping, you get loads of room in parent and toddler spaces.

I'm allowed to do it as i actually have a toddler.

In that case, you will appreciate how much easier it is to ha a little extra room to manouvre when in supermarket car parks, whilst dealing with your kids.

May be nice to remember that, when you don't have the kids with you.

Happened to my old Octy.

I waited till he'd gone and keyed every panel.

I like revenge :)

And also breaking the law, it seems.

This is a disgusting attitude in my opinion. Worse than the attitide of the "fat sweaty cow" in the OP

Oh yes... been there done that... Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Waited till he'd gone and let down all of his tyres, lifted his wipers, folded his mirrors back (not in but back so he had to click them back into place). I didn't want to cause any actual damage so there would be no come back but I'm betting my life he didn't have a pump in his car! ;)

It would have caused damage to the tyre walls.

not to mention the dangerous situation you created. Well done.

I'm beginning to wonder how some of you actually manage to drive your cars on the road, being as you are so precious. I don't how you would cope with all the mud, sh"t, stones, branches, and general cr@p I have to drive over every day. Do you drive around every stone on the road in case it chips the paint?

In general these incidents are ACCIDENTS, nothing more than that. I'm sure no-one goes out purpose to damage the car next to them, so the Police will not be interested.

Now stand by for the flaming!!

This^^

It is plastic and metal which moves around under it's own steam. It' s going to get the odd scratch/scrape eventually

What these "people" don't realise is that by making these sorts of comments they are making themselves equally as bad, if not worse, than those they thought they were "insulting".

Again, this^^

To the OP, I assume that you got the reg of the offenders' car? if so take some pics of the damage, and report him, if you feel strongly enough. He has damaged your car and should pay for repair.

Alternatively, you could just have a rant on a car forum, as that's probably easier.

As Delboy once said: "It's just a dropped stitch in the tapestry of life"

Although admittedly, he was talking about Cassandra's miscarriage, not an inconsequential mark on the side of an inanimate object, But you get the idea.

You obviously don't care about your car, or criminal damage.

I wish you well, drinking your soy milk from your hemp mug.

grr666, as the 14 year old next door says, "whatever".

Matt, I have never said it is acceptable, I said it is an ACCIDENT.

Billybones,

Not such a casual stereotype - based on experience, some of it personal unfortunately. I think on the whole the French are less anal about their cars than us Brits - myself included.

Folk who drive German cars? Hmm - you may have a point! Actually my German relatives are more 'French' - they don't give a toss about their cars or what they bang it into.

I'm with the guys who value their cars not being damaged, i work hard to pay for my car, what gives people the right to damage it? maybe it is an accident and accidents happen!, however what annoys me is Why should i be the one to pay to repair the damage caused by someone else to my car? perhaps next time i'll drive over their childs bike when its carelessly laid on the floor outside the shop or mcdonalds as accidents apparently happen!

My car got dinged in my own workplace ... now i park in the middle of the field . Never park your car at an old folks home ...

I don't know if either of those comments are aimed at me, but as the first one was directly after my post, I will assume it was, at least in part, aimed at me.

What, in my post implied I was a hippy? I have two cars and two motorcycles. I love riding, and although I like my cars, I don't hold them in such high regard as my bikes.

Having said that, although I would be upset if my bikes were damaged, It is only MINOR damage. Nobody was hurt. And as I said, If he feels strongly, he should report it.

Better that than post childish pictures on t'internet, aimed at somebody who doesn't hold EXACTLY the same opinion as yourself.

But WHY should he have to report it, should the dinger have not apologised and offered to pay for the repair? shows what kind of verminous scum are rife in the uk at present sadly :( , no respect for peoples property, perhaps the OP should find out where they live and draw a male appendage on their front door in marker pen as "Accidents Happen"

I agree that 'the dinger' as she has become known, should have apologised and offered to pay for the damage. Of course. I don't see anybody disputing that.

What I object to, is the condoning of criminal action in retaliation, and branding of other form members as hippies, just because they don't wholly agree with other members' skewed view of the world.

Yes Babs, you could probably say I was an aged hippy, and proud to be so. However I don't smoke weed, do shower very regularly, don't wear sandals, eat meat joyously, think about the planet, always do the recycling and am generally quite mellow, thank you.

In the words of the Land Rover world.........One life, live it!

Damage is damage. Minor or not. A dent on a panel is £60 for a mobile dent remover to fix, or £150+ if it needs paint. The OP has stated that the other party is fully aware of said damage and is refusing to do anything about it.

This thread is more about the fact that people don't care about other people's propery - i.e. a lack of respect - and yours and others "it's only a car/it's only minor" type responses just show this attitude.

Unfortunately, in the disrespecting, lawless society with live in currently, damage in retaliation is often the only thing you can do, as other people, and the police, clearly don't take it seriously. An eye for an eye and all that. And hey, if it makes you feel better! B)

It is a massive leap to say that my attitude is a little more laid back than yours, means that I have no respect for anybody elses property.

And it still doesn't address the fact that you saw fit to deal with that by starting to fling about personal slurs and childish pictures.

Over and out.

Just like the person slurs you were flinging in that epic multiquote? :wonder:

So taking your example of keying every panel did the 10 x £150 worth of damage make you feel better for the £60 of damage that they accidently, all be it carelessly, did to your car? For me I think that once the red mist settled I'd feel the bigger ****.

An eye for an eye is one thing but that sounds more like an eye for both eyes... and every limb... and half their face.

+1 on that as well

And as for being called a Hippy?!?

Strange...

No, no. I'm quite happy with my actions :)

No, no. I'm quite happy with my actions :)

EDIT before I get banned!!

Graham the Aged Hippy.

You don't get a car park ding from a little tap. I'm sure we've all tapped the car next to us a little if the door opened a little too wide. If it's just a tap it won't even scratch the paint.

To get a car park ding the door has been flung out with a bit of force without regard for the car next to it. And people who do that should be taken out and shot in front of their families (ref for the easily offended - http://www.tntmagazine.com/news/showbiz/jeremy-clarkson-strikers-should-be-shot-backlash).

Most enjoying the flamewar peeps. Keep it up

Agreed that damage like this, whether or not it is accidental, should be paid for, but you go through the proper channels (police, insurance) to get the result you want. Damaging their car in return is just bringing yourself down to their level, and still doesn't help in fixing your car.

If more people damaged each others cars in retaliation and the insurance had to sort it out imagine how much our premiums would be!

Some of you lot should apply for Jeremy Kyle....

I do agree with eye or an eye but there has to be line drawn, iv got a dent in my rear quarter from someones door and how it does p!ss me off to some extent, thats life! if you want you use your car but keep it in show room condition, dont park somewhere it might get damaged!

My neighbor reversed into my Golf last year, barely marked it, infact it did come out with T-cut but he put a note on windscreen and knocked on the door to tell me what had happened and mentioned about it going to body shop that he would pay, yes i was not impressed at his reversing skills and if i had found the mark on my car with no note i would be knocking on doors demanding payment but because he was honest i respected that and did the leg work myself, its like pleading guilty to a judge, he might let you off somewhat.
