Bolero buetooth media problem

Featured Replies

I'm having problems connecting my HTC Hero to the media player on the Bolero in my Yeti. The phone works via bluetooth no problem, shows phonebook etc. The phone works with the media player in wifes RNS 510 (Columbus) so I would have thought it should've been fully compatible with the Bolero.

Can anyone offer some help.

RNS-510 and Bolero have nothing to do with the phones compatibility, all they are is an interface to a module mounted under the drivers seat. Depending on the age of the car the module you have fitted may not support A2DP and if this is the case you can replace the module under the drivers seat with a newer version. Should this need to be done you will also need to install another wire to enable stereo sound between the module and the headunit.

The car is 1 week old.

Thanks for closing my thread in the Yeti forum where I may have got some response.

We dont allow crossposting and normally that thread would have been deleted.

As the car is new, then it should have the latest bluetooth module. Does the HTC Hero support RSAP, I have a feeling the reason its not working maybe down to the protocol being used to talk to the Yeti. There are 2 bluetooth protocols on the new module, RSAP and HFP. if you are paired in RSAP mode then try the other option, or vice-versa.

Not really an answer to the O/P's problem mannyo-and since you have assumed it was and closed the other thread I'm not sure how much you have helped. Much tidier though!!

Mannyo, can you explain the bt protocol, I'm not sure what you mean, RSAP and HFP.

The Yeti is only GSM 11 (unless they have changed it), some of the other Skoda's have GSM 111.

rsap means you can read texts on the head unit etc, whereas hfp can't. rsap means the head unit takes over the phone, I think rendering the phone redundant when in the car (needs it for the sim card though), whereas with hfp (hands free profile) most non phone call stuff has to be done via the phone.

There was a point in time that if you ordered an Octavia or a Superb you could not use an iPhone with it, but you could use some other phones. I think those days have gone.

You do need to be playing music on the phone first before you can select the BT icon on the head unit.

If you have a choice of settings on your 'droid phone choose hfp, not rsap

I thought I was pretty familiar with connecting my phone to the head units but I'm having no luck with the bolero unit.

I know I also have to have the music playing but still no connectuin

Sorry meant to add I don't seem to have or just can't find the option of these settings on my phone.

On the RNS510 there is an option in the menus to enable bluetooth audio, I think under setup and Media. I assume the Bolero will have a simillar option as well assuming of course that the Bolero has been coded correctly before it left the factory to say that it can do Bluetooth Audio.

Yes there is an enable bt audio on the Bolero however with this ticked I still cannot connect the HTC audio player.

Do you have a friend or work colleague with an iphone, I am just wondering if its worth trying to pair that with your car and see if it can play audio via bluetooth, if it has difficulties as well then it could mean a visit to the dealer to ensure that the bluetooth module has been coded to enable audio streaming. As both module and Bolero are separate systems, they are coded independently and even though the bluetooth option maybe on the menu does not mean the other end is coded correctly.

My 2008 Superb for instance, has an old bluetooth module than neither supports bluetooth audio or HFP protocol however I have the Bluetooth audio option under media and its ticked on but in effect does nothing.

edit: Moved to Yeti Forum, link left in ICE forum to this thread. Duplicated thread in Yeti forum removed.

On the maxidot in bluetooth setup does it mention any phones connected for BT audio - you may need to enable it in the setup menu.

When I try to connect audio device, Maxi dot tells me unable to connect device.

I can take another phone and connect with no problem, Maxi dot shows icon for bt, phone and audio. However when I connect my HTC it only shows phone and bt, it will not recognise it as an audio device. It also loads my full phonebook.

Think from this I can take it as a phone issue and not the Bolero. Just need to find someone who has managed to connect an HTC as an audio device

It does sound like a phone issue to me as well.

Try doing search in the ICE, Security & Insurance section, as I'm sure I have seen many people talking about htc devices. Being ignorant on what an htc hero is, is it android or win mobile?

It's,android.

Definately a phone issue as I can get other android phones to link fully with it.

I just got rid of my hero so I can't test it out but I used to have problems with it and my hands free in the Octavia (parrot). It's old and unsupported now so unless you've rooted it and updated the ROM it's probably down to it having such an old bluetooth capability. You might find some answers by searching on the XDA forum. You will certainky find out how to root it and install a modern version of android using a custom rom with all sorts of tweaks.

I think your right.

It is strange because the phone and audio player connects with our RNS510 (Columbus) no problem, just not the Bolero for bt audio. My HTC was updated to a newer version but perhaps not new enough. Due to receive my new phone in January, these 24 month contracts are torturous, so I think I'll bide my time until then.

My Yeti + Bolero connected first time to my HTC Desire S. No special settings needed. I don't plan to use it though if I can only control what's playing through the phone (am I missing something here?). I've just copied all my music on to an SD card - much easier.

When I connect my Hero to our RNS510 I can fully control it from the head unit/MFSW.

That it something us iPhone users can but dream about
