standard fabia vrs. can i upgrade to all optional extras?

Featured Replies

I really like the idea of the xenons which I know can be done, then, 6 cd changer, radio/sat nav and any other extras?

How much am I looking at? And is it possible to do the extras on a standard basic range fabia vrs?

Thanks,

Oli

Have a little search, lots of info about most of it. From what I have found:

Cruise control, easy and cheap

Xenons much harder, fitting the headlights and bulbs are simple enough, but the whole washers/self levelling is much more difficult, but possible if you have deep pockets or very good at rewiring.

Satnav fairly simple, just find a headunit but I dont think anyone has managed to get Maxidot working correctly.

Seat surgeons will leather your current seats.

ESP, wiring nightmare i`m guessing.

Passenger airbag deactivation, i`d think its fairly simple.

Heated seats, unsure

Not sure of others . .

Then you also need to do ESP, rear elctric windows, heated front seats, cruise control, passenger airbag switch!

cruise control is easy to do

xenons has been done just ask various people like XAOSX..... B)

ESP is actually possible without gutting the car..? :wonder:

Cruise control, easy and cheap

... except some cars can't be modified - certainly a friend's 9/04 one couldn't.

rear elctric windows,

These weren't an original option.

Sunroof? Well I suppose nothing's impossible but it would be pretty radical surgery!

Rear electric windows were never a option on the vrs as far as i`m aware? They wouldnt be much work to do though i`v already been looking into it, finding the parts used is the hard bit, and expensive new. Although if they were a option on the vrs that would help me out . . . . .

Lots have fitted projector headlights, but not a full retro fit as far as i`m aware? Only the estate unit 18 had a proper retro fit.

Side air-bags - is it really worth the effort?

I think Tech1e did ESP when he built a VRS estate....needs new ESP/ABS pump/solenoid unit, also new ESP gyro sensor unit (behind lower center console)...and wiring etc to fit.. B)

Third rear head rest - possible...

... except some cars can't be modified - certainly a friend's 9/04 one couldn't.

Oh no way? I thought all vRS`s had the correct module. :'( Hope mine is ok to do.

 That would be interesting.

I got elec/rear windows as standard fit on my 2001 Elegance....I know they removed them later on but thought it was to the options list???....

...anyway one to do if you want to "fully spec" your Fabia!!!....

SEs have privacy glass...

The Elegance also had factory fit rear parking sensors and a rear ashtray - these also didn't appear on the vRS option list but are somewhat easier to retro-fit - particularly the ashtray! :)

All vRS's I've ever done and that's a fair few inc my 53 plate many moons ago have all had the correct control unit for cruise control.

The "problem" one (EDIT - a standard vRS) belonged to a friend who went to one of the people on this forum to get his fitted and it had to be taken off - his car was first registered 1/9/04 and was just pre-facelift.

Strange. My mates was about the same vintage, 54 plate, he had it retro fitted at Unit 18 without issue, I`m sure when I asked Ali he was confident all vRS had the right setup for the CC

The 6Q2 control unti which won't support cruise also doesn't support electric mirrors so can't be fitted to a vRS.

Parking sensors one? not to costly mod..

Don't forget the little things.... Under parcel shelf cargo net... Pop out 'n' flip cup holder.

OEM Sat Nav can't possibly be worth the effort these days? Especially when the Fabia is Double Din as standard..

Of all the OEM options not on my car (I already fitted Cruise) I think I'd most like heated seats... but it'll never happen.

<looks at AntVRS with a Jealous glint>

How hard of a job would it be to retro fit heated seats?

My vRs has come with pretty much every option. It is German spec but I guess if it was available in other territories its possible to fit it to a UK spec car although some stuff will be an issue because of the LHD/RHD.

On my car as standard.

ESP

OEM Satnav & Maxidot

Heated Seats

Electric Sunroof

Under seat multi CD

Under seat storage (drivers side)

Front & rear electric windows

Xenons

Heated wing mirrors

Rear PDC

Also has OEM Skoda hands free telephone prep but this is a waste of time as you can no longer get a cradle for modern phones. I think Cruise control is only option not on the car but I will get it done as its an easy mod.

Had a look at the Skoda UK catalogues that I have for MKI Fabia

From late facelift catalogue

Factory fit Options on all Fabias MKI

6CD changer under seat

Electric sunroof

Passenger airbag deactivation switch

Metallic paint

Side airbags

Third rear headrest

Factory fit options for VRS Fabia MKI

Cruise control (standard on late spec Elegance)

ESP

Heated front seats (standard on Elegance)

Double din sat nav (should get Maxi-dot display in dash as well)(requires 6CD changer to be fitted)

Xenon headlights inc headlight washers

Dealer fit options for VRS Fabia MKI

Leather trim upgrade (seats etc)

Reversing sensors (standard on late spec Elegance, avaliable for all Fabias)

Cup holder at side of stereo (avaliable for all Fabias)

Items not listed but required for "full spec"

Cup holder/ash tray in rear of center console (standard on Elegance)

Electric rear windows (only avaliable for early Fabias, standard on early Elegance)

Sunset privacy glass on rear side windows (only fitted to late spec Sport and SE editions)

Red seatbelts (only fitted to Sport editions)

Storage draw under drivers seat (draw from Europe passenger seat)

Later high spec Fabias have a "three button" remote for the alarm...Early high spec ones have a "two button" remote

There are other "bits"......but the above list would make it have all the items from the factory that are fitted to the other spec Fabias, and all the Factory options and specific options to the VRS.!!! B)

"Storage draw under drivers seat (draw from Europe passenger seat)"

It's not actually a drawer - it's a "cupboard" with a drop down door, and it's UK standard issue on vRSs fitted with a CD changer - both my cars have had them.
