Just ordered a YETI to replace our Tiguan.....

Featured Replies

Hello there and welcome!

If I were you - I'd take the towbar not only the preparation. In here this was a cheaper option than adding the towbar later. And double sun visors (is that a proper term?) - good stuff.

And now, for something completely different :giggle: I've just read that they have a major breakdown of computer system at Skoda plant. Preventing them from sending the already produced cars to the dealers. So even longer wait it seems ...

Hi EZ_Lo, have you any more info on the computer glitch? :(

Hello yeti men.

Just popping in to say hello and announce that I've ordered a YETI to replace our Tiguan, spec as follows:

Yeti Elegance 2.0 TDI CR 140PS 4x4 DSG In Brilliant Silver Metallic with:

1. 12 speaker soundsystem - RA1

2. Elec heated, adjustable & foldable, auto-dimming door mirrors with memory function and boarding- spots - PW8

3. Electrically adjustable drivers seat with lumbar support and memory function - PWB

4. Heated windscreen - PH5

5. Panoramic sunroof (electrically sliding and tilting) - PK3

6. Park distance control (front and rear sensors) - 7X2

7. Preparation for towbar - PKZ

8. Temporary space-saver spare wheel with car jack and false boot floor - PJA

9. Textile floor mats - 0TD

10. Tyre pressure monitoring - 7K9

Ready for a very l o n g wait now.

Hi - I have also just ordered a Yeti (similar specs) over a Tiguan. The basic reason was a price differencial of I plan on keeping the Yeti for sometime so this really does not come into the equation. And the other reason? Well, a proper handbrake and the option of a heated windscreen was the icing on the cake. Now for a very long wait......

From my tire-kicker perspective:

New tiguan with double bar grill and LED front and rear lights on looks worse than old tiguan (typical first design revision problems where the designer's eye loses out to corporate design committee). I like the Yeti styling mostly.

Agree that a proper handbrake is a plus. (Apparently, can still manage automatic hill hold.)

Yeti TDI fuel consumption slightly worse than Tig which has idle Start/Stop (but the really keen can do better with the ignition key).

Dimensions: Yeti 200mm shorter, 15mm less ground clearance, 250L bigger boot (removable seats presumably), 1.7m smaller turning circle (which can't all be due to 27mm shorter wheelbase)

Skoda claims better 0-100km/h time than Tiguan for same 103TDI engine and manual (?due to gear ratios or test driver, since DSG time is the same).

Yeti TDI engine cover looks cheap and nasty.

I'd prefer the Yeti with the Tiguan dashboard.

Overall, I think Skoda did a better Tiguan with the Yeti, especially packaging and around town manoeuverability. (And we should have ours in a week.)

Interesting comments. I think the facelifted Tiguan looks much better than the old one. Especially from behind without those awful round donut lights. But the whole thing tumbles down when I get inside and those EIGHT spider eye air vents stare me in the face. Yuck. Awful. Not to mention how much more it costs over a similar Yeti AND as far as I know you can't even get a heated windscreen at all on a Tiguan. Yeti a far better deal of course!

Although I agree about the bug eye air vents Joahnn, at least the satnav/radio and the heater controls are higher up in the dash and much nearer the driver's line of vision in the Tiguan. I think the Yeti's sat-nav etc are all far too low in the dash which means you have to take your eyes off the road for far longer than you should need to in order to adjust them. Whilst their function is fairly logical, the heater buttons on cars with climate control are particularly poorly laid out and indistinct especially in certain lighting conditions. Shame really, as I feel the rest of the Yeti's dash is pretty well perfect.

I 100% agree on the radio being too low to do sat nav duties. Hence I use a TomTom.

As to the HVAC controls: that exact layout is shared on near all VAG cats. So the Tiguan and Yeti have the exact same ones. You'll find some nice comparative photos here:
