Fabia vrs appreciation thread

Featured Replies

Been thinking about this for a couple of days now! Walking upto my vrs the other day, I was looking at it and I thought to myself " I actually really like the look of my car". Some people say they look a bit dated but I don't think they do at all. Then driving it home I had some to55er up my ar5e driving like a **** so I slowed down a little! This prompted him to flash his lights and attempt to undertake me, to which I put my foot down and unleashed the shark powered torque!! Bye then!

I've had other cars before from a Renault 5 as my first car, to a vauxhall corsa sport and a 206 gti. All of which were forgettable and most of the time boring.

I guess the long and short of it is that I've had my vrs for just over a year now and not only does it drive brilliantly but it looks good in my eyes and puts a smile on my face daily. It also surprises people who turn their noses up at the skoda badge and also in terms of performance!

So, I LOVE my fabia and it's easily the best car I've owned to date and has so far been trouble free motoring!

Nice one skoda!

I love my fabia too, even my mates with celica gt four's, 260bhp astra gsi, 225bhp cupras agree that the fabia is such a sleeper. They love it when i take them out for a spin to show them the torque!!!

They get even more jealous when they see my MPG :p

Yep, had mine for 18 months or so now. Still never fails to put a smile on my face every time I drive it.

Totally agree, had 5 cars in 4 years of driving, the fabia for 20months of that; with no plans to sell it either!

i like mine too,i am on my second one,i really regreted selling the first one, that was the only car that i have missed once i sold it,thought about it every day, didnt help that i used to see it a lot driving around,so after about 3 years i went out and purchased the one i have got now, which i will keep until it wont go anymore.

Totally agree with everyones comments, had my SE for 1 year come january and i love it to bits

Cant believe i was thinking of getting rid of it a while back, would have been kicking myself if i had :D

Had mine for 3 years now and still love it. Looks have grown on me, especially since the new petrol version looks so naff.

I look back at mine everyone I park up somewhere. I even stand in the window and look how shiny it is ( When it's clean )

Yep, I think it looks a lot better than the new one. But that's a trend for me, I've really gone off most new cars, particularly VAG. I much preferred my Mk1 Leon to the Mk2, I prefer the Mk1 S3 to the Mk2, preferred the Mk4 Golf to the Mk5 (although on that one the Mk6 made up for it), etc.

Very happy with my Fabia, it's not been plain sailing since I bought it (many niggles, a new map and a new clutch in 6 months of ownership) but I'm hoping that's it now and I can look forward to a few years of trouble-free motoring :)

Oooh just realised! Mine is 5 today, Still not bored with it!

Love it!! Struggle to find a car that is as fun to drive and as cheap to run. I also think they look really good for how old they are.

This is the key point for me.

Every time I drive my Fabia I enjoy it. B)

Mine may be no VRS but still love it :) can't wait for my shark powered remap when funds allow after Christmas!! :) then it'll be more like a vrs for me!

Had alot of dailys in my time but the vrs is the best ive had

Love mine to bits. Probably my second favourite car I've owned, and wins hands down on a practical level.

Hasn't skipped a beat since I've owned it, and taken everything I've asked of it in its stride.

My VRS is the best car I've ever had and I've had quite a few. You can't beat it for performance and fuel consumption.

I bought another one too

Yeah, I've gotta agree.

great compromise between economy and fun. Easily prefer my little vRS over the 2.0tdi A3 sport I sold for it, and any car I have owned to be fair

Totally agree with all above.

Specially Mattie (OP)

People see the Skoda badge and immediately assume that it's slow and driven by and old granny or grandad.

Now you know what they say about assuming....

It makes an arse out of you and me!

The you and me in this case being the other driver and his mate :giggle:

've ha ours for 5 years and are struggling to think of another car to replace it. Even the MK 2 is just not quite the same.

They should have made it a diesel also.

I was in your position last year - I'd bought my 2004vRS new and it was starting to get expensive to maintain (the real drawback to owning a Fabia it seems) so wanted something else. However finances (I'm on 72% of my 2008 salary presently) plus the fact the new petrol vRS is SO ugly precluded buying one. I'd been hankering after a Yeti but they were still too expensive second-hand. I was looking at my dealer's website for one when I saw my current SE and bought it the same day - for megabucks! (>£10k) In retrospect because of all the problems I've had with damp carpets (something I unusually didn't have with the 2004vRS) I'm not sure that was the right decision - but it's still difficult to see what else I'd get to replace it. Unfortunately I think I will have to change it though. Work has moved recently and it's only 2.5 miles away - the car's not liking lots of short runs...

... especially after nearly breaking down over Xmas!

Being the second car I've ever owned and only being 20 with many cars in front of me I'll never forget this one :)

Not the last word in driving dynamics and it's a little too understeery and wheelspinny really. When I compare it to the 3 Civic VTi's I owned and the Accord-R it's not too clever but where it does win me over is the fact it costs half the Tax, half the insurance and the MPG and a massive improvement over the Hondas (£65 of Petrol would get 300miles in the Accord vs £50 for 430 in my VRS).

It's never going to beat the Accord (nor probably the Civics) in the handling dept but I hope to improve it somewhat with a RARB and better tyres.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had mine for just over a year now, it is the smallest car I have ever owned and absolutely love it!

Handles great, very comfy for a little car (I've done just short of 20k in a year), goes well and cheap to run.

Do have to say I still miss the Vectra I used to own 5 years ago but wouldn't swap the furby for anything.............may be an Octy Vrs in a few years time.

Came very very close to selling mine, and I couldnt after i got it fixed, fell in love with it all over again.

Quiet simply an awesome machine.

I also (because am young) have other young drivers who comment on my granny car etc.. etc... and I couldnt give a 5hit I dont even give them the pleasure of a drive out in it, its there loss. But for the people who actually know something about cars you get a very respectful nod of appreciation

Love mine to bits!
