Featured Replies

not had experience with that one, i use to have a 9886r good head unit, alpines are known for sound quality,

I have a alpine double dinn and a pioneer double dinn, both have sat nav/hands free etc and I can't fault them, one will be up for sale in a week or 2

Have u tried typing cheap head units into google I got an alpine one iPod connectivity and stuff for less than that, my alpine is amazing really good make so I'd go for one again :)

I replaced mine with a Sony one, paid around £100 from Halfords and the quality is great, works brilliantly with my iPhone as well.

I don't mind paying a bit more to get a better quality one. I like the look of the alpine one as its got the iPod and the Bluetooth on it.

I've had a few Alpine head units and they've all been great. The sound quality is always great. The build quality is always good too. I had one that could run an ipod and it worked really well. I'd recommend one to anyone.

I have had a couple of Alpines, plus some Sony's, JVC, Kenwood, Clarion and Pioneer and the Alpine is by far the best of the bunch I currently have an X001 which is 4 years old but is good enough to keep with current stuff, in fact as it was the flagship unit back then most stuff is still current.

Can't go wrong with Alpine, quality stuff.

They've always been the first company I turn to regarding I.C.E.

The only gripe I have about their head units is the appearance. Not an OEM thing about any of them. It's only started bothering me as of recent, and may not bother some at all.

I have an Alpine CDA-105RI installed in my Fabia.

Excellent sound quality.

Just a pain in the *** selecting MP3's on the USB hard disk.

Radio doens't sort on alfabet, but on date created of the folders.

Yeah that's the only thing that puts me off too, but I want something that sounds quality

Check out Blankpukt and Clarion also then. They're good for OEM styling.

Becker are superb if you want iPod control and OEM styling.

I have an alpine unit with green illumination and I love it :)

Once you have sorted your library for the car, mines a 6 monthly task (if that, as with 16GB there is plenty of selection) copy it back to a folder on the PC and then back a across using the select all then cut and paste commands, hey presto everything has the same date stamp so is then organised by alphabet.

Up until May last year I used to work for Alpine in Coventry ... still speak to my mates there in product support and they thoroughly recommend the 113BT. Bought one for the missus earlier this year (staff rate of course ;-) ) and not got any complaints!!!

That's good to know. It does feel like a quality unit and I like the features it comes with. What do you guys recommend for the speakers. Are the standards alright with aftermarket head units? My rears are the blaupunkt upgraded ones.

Alpine's have always had wonderful sound quality, you won't be disappointed!

I'm not sure what will fit ... isnt there a bit of a depth restriction in the front doors? Then I assume there'll be issues locations crossovers etc...

I've heard the standards aren't too bad, would be worth giving it a go before changing them. Had the same in a Bora I used to own - swapped the stock head unit for an Alpine W203Ri, and left the speakers standard as it seems the head unit was the weak point.

I work in a car garage so I've got a rather large choice of mechanics who will do it for a small amount of alcohol, plus one of them has the symphony removal keys!

I've had a few, three I think and loved every one! Even had the 3 disc in-dash changer model that some little thieving **** decided he wanted!

Buy one and you won't regret it!

That looks like the current version of my head unit (In fact it looks exactly the same :S ). If it is then the sound quality will be a great improvement on the standard head unit, although you may need to play with the bass and treble levels a little. Standard speakers do a surprisingly decent job, IIRC to change the fronts involves drilling out a couple of pop rivets as they're not screwed in, but unless you're 18 and like the bass to rattle the doors don't bother.

No I'm just ever so slightly passed that stage in life!
