Octavia VRS MPG

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im looking to get myself a VRS Octavia and would like to pick your brains on a couple of things, so here goes......

1) from dry, how much does it cost to fill the tank and from a full tank how many miles will it average, driving reasonably, around town and short motorway journys.

2) the car im looking at is a 2002 model, will this car have the same coil problems as the eariler models.

3) what is the general opinion of these cars.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome :wavey:

1) Tank holds 55 litres, I normally need around 45-48 to fill it up again. So around

i could make a tank last anywhere between 75 and 400 miles..

75!!!!!

well 6 laps of the ring... so possibly nearer 80...

u sure you didn't have a hole in the tank

That must have been moving

The coil packs on a 2002 car should have been changed to a later version. Although newer ones do occasionally fail, they are not expensive and are readily available. AA patrols routinely carry spares. My tuned 4X4 has given 31.43mpg over 11000+ miles. A vRS should achieve a good few mpg better than that and the general opinion is that they are excellent value for money and enjoyable to own and drive.

PS: Welcome to Briskoda. :D

i still have not been able to work out why i seem to be the only one to fill his tank up on

1) Depends where you buy your petrol and what type it is. Cost me about

Around town driving (which i dont do much of) i get about 24ish mpg going up to 30mpg if i dont go mad.

on the motorway, about 37-39 is the most ive seen on the trip computer, thats doing around 80mph with the odd blast over that speed.

Ive only had mine for a couple of months and im well pleased with it

32Mpg is my norm :D

It all depends on how & where you drive. If you plant it hard and go through town with it, you'll get low mpg. If you are cruisin' on the motorways at reasonable speeds ;) you'll probably have pretty decent mpg.

In my normal route to work I go up and down hills - the mpg varies a LOT based on that.

I know I have a Furby vRS so putting my figures down won't help ya, but the same things always apply ;)

1)

When I last filled up with juice, of the Shell Optimax variety, it cost me around

I've once seen 44.4 MPG but that was on a journey that was mostly coasting downhill. MNy usual journey to work sees 27.8 MPG and on am hours trip up the M40 it gets to about 35 ish

I'm with Joel on this one...

Full tank costs around

i always use optimax or BP Ultimate and from the light coming on it takes anywhere between

Yep, mine took

1) Last time I filled mine from "warning light on" empty cost me
