ive been on the look out for a 4x4 but this one turned out so couldnt resist lol

going to be a hybrid, thats what ive been looking at a direct replacement with k04 internals, either them or turbo dynamics do a couple of options

yeah im a qualified vw mechanic just dont work on the tools anymore, ive done a turbo on my drive before on a 1.8t not a nice job but an easy day out day in if you dont rush, its just a case or getting everything out the way.

Looks like it, i found a hybrid on the cr turbo site mate

Its listed as the octy upgrade, ive lost the link .... For now

It says k04 under type iirc

Part number has 001 on the end and its kkk

I wonder if that and the k04-001s are all similar or the same??? Hmmm

I can remember having a borg warner upgraded turbo on my mk2 1.8t and that was great fun

The normal bumpers catch kerbs/ramps less than the vRS ones too unless you lower it , my elegance used to catch the front bumper where ever I went

cheers matt, yeah i know that stupid bit in the middle underneath always drops down a little on the standard bumpers

bit of an update, had an hour of so to start stripping her down,

the bay needs a very good clean

My optima yellow top fits nicely in the battery space, need to find some way of securing it as it wont clamp in like oem shouldnt be too much of a big deal.

nearly everythings out the way

left the manifold and downpipe soaked in wd to attack tommorrow if i get a sec.

gonna take the front bumper and intercooler and pipes off tommorrow too start cleaning them up and drain the oil from the cooler.

and gonna get the secondary air pump + pipes removed while ive got space, it certianly dont look like the worst failure ive seen the turbines in tact only a couple of chips off the blade, have a closer look once its all off see if i find any debree in the pipes,

need to whip the sump off too check the pickup and clean it

Got the turbo off this morn, and the intercooler and pipework not much oil in the cooler which was good, it was all chucked into the cat, so left that draining off even though will most likely get a new 3inch downpipe and some new lambda probes, got lots to be ordering now new gaskets and nuts and bolts etc.

One poorly turbine

Got rid of the secondary air pump too always annoys me on cold starts and makes oil filter changes a hell of alot easier without it, just waiting on my blank to go on the block
