there is a uk dealer but theyre as useful as tits on a fish. no repiles.from emails etc so id avpid them.

i ordered from red line performance. a new zeland based company. it was 350 all in but 100 was just for shipping which i was gutted about but hey!

they asked me what car it was going on because it was the first they have sent to scotland haha!

Get ur front silincer removed aswell and youl hear a fair bit of popping and crackling with it ;)

Ok, dumb question time, what is the difference between this and any other aftermarket exhaust?

Are these the ones you can change the sound on?

Yep you can change the note with a remote....theres a vid on youtube with a bocca with one fitted

They contain a motorised butterfly valve allowing you to switch between silenced and straight through exhaust.

I'm keeping the middle silencer and this replaces the rear back box completely.

It wont be as loud as straight pipes as the middle silencer is still there, but it should be pretty decent when fully open, which is what I gather from the poor translations is on the boca' on youtube.

The Varex has an internal butterfly valve, which adjusts the flow rate and volume of the exhaust. However, even when the valve is fully shut, exhaust gases can still pass through a small hole inside the silencer and are, well... silenced before passing through the tip acting much like the original rear silencer would.

This avoids damaging back pressure which can kill turbos, even still I wont be booting it when the valves shut just to be safe.

Fair enough, you're gonna get some noise from this, but for what gains ?

Not to pee on your bonfire, but speaking from experience (not with Varex) but at A road & motorway speeds it's gonna be boomy in the car. If you can live with that, hope you enjoy it emoticon-0105-wink.gif

they will be when its open. can close it up a bit to reduce it back to near stock sound levels so shouldnt be that bad.

as for performance gains probably not that much but i guess with only one silencer it should allow the gases to flow a bit more freely when open.

i bought it mainly for the sporty noise when i want it and have the ability to drive quietly too. especially at 3am!

i like the idea of that. any links and prices

I'd like to know what the score is when it comes to tuning.

Things havn't gone exactly to plan.

Had a look under the car this evening and it looks like I'm going to need to do some custom work..

Basically the vRS from the middle silencer downwards is all one long ass bit of pipe work. Theres no way to get the rear silencer off which is a big downer, I had the idea that the rear can would of been a bolt on job as its different from the other models but I guess thats what I get for not checking first eh! :giggle:

The varex will fit though, the vRS rear silencer is a tall rectangular shape and the varex is the same width, but much "flatter" so for space im fine.

The varex is also a fair whack shorter than the original box, which is a good thing.

What I am doing is planning is so that the OEM rear silencer can still be attached at a later date via a gasket, so I can effectively swap back boxes as I please.

I'm taking it to a garage to get them to sort it all for me as I thought I could of done a homer on it but with the pipe needing to be cut etc I'm getting a garage to do it.

Bit of a stumble but no fear... although I really wish I bought that welder when it was in Aldi haha

More info in my build thread, but here's what everyone really wants to see.

er have you got the vid mixed up, as it sounds louder with the valve closed? er well it does they my fone speaker :/ Need to hear some roadside passing comparisons!

The bass with the Varex off is very noticable. I think a pass by will showcase it better.
