Featured Replies

Just to prove that you don't have to spend loads for oil, correct oil for my Vrs on fixed servicing from the local dealers which includes a 10% Briskoda discount £19.56! Filter £5 sump plug £1.

Exactly what I paid. Silly not to really!

Bet my local dealer would be miles off that price..... dare you to phone them up and ask for a quote! :giggle:

How many litres of LL oil for £26.60?

5 litres

if its not they are gonna have one Hell of an argument as I asked enough for a service lol

There isn't any brisky discount at opie oils anymore. All their prices are discounted to everyone.

What's the reason for people buying new sump plugs now? I understand the new washers if you have the copper crush ones but now I see new plugs for sale.

the washer is fixed onto the plug its about £1

What oil is it? Semi?

The oil Raf quoted for mine was 507.00 as I'm changing mine to variable servicing this time round.

Fully synthetic oil, vw washers are fixed to the plug. If you've ever had a sump plug seize on you you'll realize why its best to get one. Think its due to the alloy sump reacting to the plug?

Its not like the old days of a copper washer that just needs swapping for 50p lol

A read alot about the sump troubles. What are the symptoms for faulty sump?

Mine wasn't on my tdi, it had a seperate steel washer.

my golf tdi had the plug that has the washer fixed to it it is lose on the plug but can't be removed

Sounds like the tdi one wasn't from the vag range

Hmm I thought fixed servicing was semi synth & variable fully.

I got a quote from the dealer something silly like £70 for the LL oil and not much difference for the fixed interval stuff!

Vrs is fully synthetic for either long life or fixed.

Dunno about dealers charging more, I know my local has always been under £30 for all the bits to do a oil change. Once had a problem with one of the parts guys not giving part numbers, so I complained to the big boss who took the time to apologise and discipline the parts guy. Pretty good service, most of the time I do try and use them but sometimes they don't have the parts in stock, so if its urgent I use the vw dealers round the corner haven't had to use the audi dealership yet. Its abit weird as there's skoda and seat together followed by an audi dealership and then vw all less than 1/2 a mile from each other!

I never tried taking the washer off because as soon as I saw that it was steel I never tried to replace it and just re-used it, it's dues another oil change in a couple of thousand miles so I'll have a look.

I pay about £15 for 5L from TPS

505.00 synta platinum iirc for fixed interval I believe this stuff is good for diesel on fixed too

I get a bit of discount on that mind

Guys, why don't you use some good quality, branded full syntetic oil like Castrol,Mobil 1,or maybe Liqui Moly (like I do) ,Motul ,Aral.

The oil is so important for the 1.8t I've seen it for many times.

5L of full synt good quality oil is about 40p even less ,I think is worting every penny more than everyting.

I use Liqui Moly Top Tech 5W40 full syn and it costs 28P / 5L

Cheap no name oil lol

Synta is the stuff VAG put in from the factory and what the main dealer would use, TPS is VW's trade counter for genuine parts only.
