No Issues

Just had my car around 14 months so here's a little update for those interested and apologies to those who aren't!!

My car is a 2007 but has done less than 19,000 miles. I can honestly say I have no issues at all with the mechanics, the way it performs or the comfort and quality of the interior. I have had a MK1 model 1.9Tdi PD Estate and left Skoda for greener patures but since returning to own this great little car I have never regretted it. If I am honest, the fuel consumption needs to be monitored especially at motorway speeds as when the little 3 pot is working it's nuts off it can get thirsty, but stay at 70mph, which of course all us law abiding Skoda owners do! and it's fine. Yes there's the odd squeak on occasions from the dash but hey! hardly worth mentioning. I find with mine I get the squeak when starting from cold but once everything is at a nice warm temp it disappears.

Will I buy another? well as this does all I want I'm not sure but if I do it will probably be the 1.4Tdi model just to have a taste of that awsome economy.

I love driving the car which handles like a dream and soaks up potholes and other imperfections. I have read that it rolls in corners but haven't noticed that myself. Mind you I do try to take the bends at reasonable speeds. I's light and airy with decent radio and air con so all in all it's pretty much as the title says...No Issues.

nice one, good to hear :) as forum tend to attract people looking to fix problems, things can seem worse than they are...

to add one +1 I have now done 24,000 miles and have had no issues at all

What mpg figures are you getting from your 1.2htp engines? I ask as I bought a new one recently and despite careful driving, am only seeing around 40mpg against a claimed 51.4mpg. Thanks.

When the car is under around 15k the engine is tight and fuel consumption can be lower than expected. I bought mine from an old guy who had tootled around and it had done less than 14k without, I suspect, ever having a good high speed run. After a few burns up and down the motorway and six months or so later the fuel consumption improved. I reckon I will be getting around 48/50 on a motorway run and my clock (please don't tell me the clock is not accurate, I know!!) says I am getting about 42 mpg around home. But be warned if you sit on 80mph expect around 38 mpg max!!. I suspect the figure of 51.4 which is achieved I believe at a constant 56 mph or so would be about right but who drives at 56mph constantly??

Nice to hear from you Horkin and I'm very pleased you are happy with your car. It is in my opinion one of the best and toughest 1.2 petrol engines around, and it sounds so good too when you press the loud pedal!! Nice one...

I had a 1.2 HTP before my Diesel Greenline. Always got 48-50mpg with average driving on a 100 mile commute. Used to do about 425-450 to reserve if I recall correctly. Sold it with 96,000 on the clock.

Its a cracking engine round town and medium journeys.

I would happily have another one if I didnt do 24,000 miles a year...

I average 36-39mpg in the summer, but it's likely to be less now as it's cold

if i do 70mph on the motorway the consumption is really poor. I can do up to high 40's by coasting everywhere, letting the car roll on hills before starting and letting the car roll to a stand still (and annoying other drivers behind). i have tried really realy really hard but the book mpg is impossible.

t but who drives at 56mph constantly??

I always drive @ 56mph

Honest

I'm another member of the "no issues" club. 13000 miles on the TSI and it hasn't missed a beat. No other problems with the car at all, a very happy owner :)

My 09 Fabia 2 1.2 has now done just over 15000 miles, and is still bag of ****e.

Still struggles to get more than mid 30's mpg. Yes I've tried everything when running it in, ragged it, pampered it etc etc. The climate control still has an attitude and noise problem "i'm better than you at deciding on fan speed - you really want to be blasted with a hurricane even though the engine still stone cold"....******....

Road noise, engine noise, fan noise and more noise, ****, the Mk1 was quiet, what happened?

Its gotta go....., I bought my son an 1.2tsi Octavia estate and that car seems an all together better car - quieter, more economical, comfortable etc etc. Probably will get one myself.

The rub is, having paid £10500 for the Fabia 2 and a half years ago, the Skoda dealer is offering a paltry £4500 part ex. even though its in immaculate condition.

And if Estateman is tempted to lecture me....then dont....I've owned/serviced/stripped down and rebuilt enough cars during my lifetime to recognise that the Fabia...my Fabia....is ****e.

With the new EU regs in force. Could Fabia have changed something fundamental on the HTP engine that wasnt on my older Mk 1 2005 version?

Seems nearly all the newer facelift versions arent meeting peoples expectations for economy. My old HTP did get 48-50 but this was generally on longer runs at steady...ish speeds. Commuting.

Agree with you on the fan. Its noisy. My GL1 fortunately has manual control but even so the air always sounds a bit like you have all the vents closed when they are open....best way I can describe it.

I was looking at a new 1.2HTP for SWMBO as our MPI is now at 106,000 miles (Does 44mpg).

Seriously considering a Kia Picanto instead.

Actually my '08 Fabia 2 (HTP 70) has great fuel economy, usually 45-50mpg. But that's the only thing it does well! the build quality and finish is poor, the road noise is awful, everything squeaks and rattles, radio is dismal, so on and so forth. Admittedly nothing major and no breakages in 6 months, which is good...but it's all the little niggles I hate about this car.

I'll be chopping it in, luckily it's worth more part-ex than I paid for it :) But then I've made a healthy profit on my last 3 cars
