Octavia vrs petrol remap

Featured Replies

Noticed a newly listed race blue octavia vrs petrol on ebay tonight and owner was claiming some 280BHP via a star performance remap etc, 80BHP is one heck off a jump from the claimed 200BHP, can a remap off such results be achived and just how much strain would this put on the car ??

sorry not sure if linking is allowed on here ?? if not please remove but this is the car in question, looks nice, anyone here ??

Not a chance without an uprated fuel pump, about 240 bhp, never heard of the map either, 2 different rolling road readouts are what you need . A carbonio air intake does nothing either

Hahaha

Prob the figures are a bit high but it does say that it has an uprated fuel pump. Id expect around 260bhp ish with the mods as it hasnt an intake kit. Still looks like its been taken care of and if he can provide receipts for the work done, servicing etc then it might be worth a look. Id also contact star performance to ask them about the car and ask the seller if he has the original wheels. Not a fan of those fited.

Star Performance are pretty well known, and in Scotland.

Jabbasport in Peterborough aren't that far away

You could try Mike at Motech

Another thumbs up for Jabbasport, they mapped my 2006 Octavia vRS TFSI nearly 2 years ago and it's still going strong.

REVO quoted me 70 bhp fron their stage 1 remap for the tsi motor.

Revo figures are always on the inflated side. The maps are really good but they let themselves down with exaggerated claims. You'll see between 250bhp and 260bhp absolute max from a stage 1 on performance mode 2 on the tsi vRS.

My 2.0 TSI rolling roaded at 264 bhp stage 1 AMD map everything else standard and with 95 ron Tesco fuel.

Probably the biggest tuner in scotland

Customer service is a bit lame mind you

I don`t live in Scotland , still bull**** 280 bhp from a stage 1

REVO have a %20 sale on at the moment. I drove an Octy 2.0 TSI yesterday with a REVO stage 1 remap. It was astounding. Pulled like an aeroplane taking off. A K04 mod must be out of this world.

I agree it's astounding. The acceleration in 6th at motorway type speeds still surprises me after over a year. There's also a significant difference between performance mode 1 and 2 on the stage 1.

How much is a stage 1 on a pre-fl 2.0 tfsi petrol? With 20% off i'm tempted...

£479.12......... or a few more coppers :sun:

I have to say I get used to power a lot sooner than that. I had an Elise with a 20v 1.8t - 262bhp/279lb and weighed at 720kg.

Acceleration was impressive as you can imagine, but after initial 'Christ Almighty' expletives, I almost found I was wanting more power. Just the same as mates who have bought superbikes and at first thought they would never need more, then a few weeks later would be thinking they need a bit more.

A case of power corrupts maybe?

More than I paid to Mr Shark, including the fuel there and back.

It was going to cost me £500 + a round trip of 200 miles.

The ride to the REVO remap was nothing because I was going shopping anyway. :p

Yes but with Revo you are getting a premium product so you pay a little bit more.

it's a generic map though not a custom!

Also, if for some reason you want to alter the map revo have a form of encryption built in so it's very difficult to read

Generic which means it's been rigorously tested for that particular engine and ecu firmware version rather than hacked together on a rolling road with minimal testing at best, and no testing at worst. For stage 1 it's not necessary so don't be conned into thinking custom maps are better and personally I would avoid based on the experience my mate had with one particular well known tuner.

so is the shark remap, it's not some back of a fag packet idea like some probably are.
