Dreaded door card bubbles!

Featured Replies

Guys I really need help on this as its driving me mad,my car is very clean till u open the door and see the crappy bubbles in the cheap vinyl ;( I can't even find a second hand off any octavia and I was going to try part the leather for the cloth! Iv been to the main dealer and even with my trade discount the new card for a vrs is €428.00 which is crazy.

Has anyone bought one cheaper off skoda uk or are they as expensive? Or has anyone even a second hand one from an elegance for sale?

There must be a lot out there like this and would u not think skoda would do better on a part that's just very bad quality.

Thanks in advance!

David.

I've had my (brand new) VRS TDI just over a week, done 1400 miles, and I've been driving with my arm on the top part of the door card - some of the time, but who doesn't (as I have done with all my other cars without harm), I've now started to notice a small depression developing and find it hard to believe this can be acceptable on a brand new car, my elbow doesn't weigh 200kg, I've stopped myself from doing it in the hope it subsides and reverts back to normal. If it doesn't after this next week I'll be going back to the dealer and asking for options...

A new door card would seem ridiculus but if they don't cover it under warranty I'll explode!

Lol same here!

Has anyone tried claiming under warranty for this? As I've said earlier my car is less than 2 weeks old and has already developed a noticeable depression and I've stopped using it as an armrest.

I bought the car as I'd had no problems with my old Octy 1 TDI Elegance over 120,000 miles...

I cannot believe this would be acceptable as 'fair wear and tear'!

Going to ring them tomorrow and book it in on Saturday for a look as I'm going in anyway to pick up a jack - had to order that as the car doesn't come with one unless you order the spare wheel :swear: people DO take their wheels off to clean them sometimes! (brochure should've really specified!)

Let us know how u get on! Maybe I could email skoda customer care in relation to this issue and see could they do a better price as it really is down to bad quality,or would I be wasting my time on a 4-5 year old car!

That won't look right. If I were you I'd try traynors to see if they have a crashed car.

Mines perfect after nearly 100k km. Ye must all just be cruising :p

U abviously don't rest ur arm on the door like the rest of us :) I tried everywhere including traynors and no luck ;(

They should replace it under warranty. I had my door card replaced on my last vrs when it was 1 1/2 years old . But some dealers are hopeless at dealing with warranty claims.

Most of us are well out of warranty!

My reply was more for Jim 1556 as his car is 2 weeks old. At the time of posting I did not realise your car was 4-5 years old but you could always give Skoda a call and see what they say!

£210 0n skodaparts.com still expensive

Which dealer was this? I reckon some history of fault/rectification may help.

To be fair, mine (DMK Leeds) have been great so far and I hope the conversation doesn't go like this:

DMK: 'it's not an armrest'

Me: 'Yes it bloody is! I bought the car to do 20,000 miles a year, 80% motorway, most people I see on the motorway use the top of the door, this is not fit for purpose, and certainly not what I expect on a brand new car'

DMK 'not our problem'

Me: :swear: :swear: :swear: Lost my business + Letter to SUK, AutoExpress, Which etc

My dealer was Henry's Skoda in Glasgow. They have always been great in sorting any warranty issues that I have had.

Cheers, I'll ring them tomorrow...

If the warranty bloke at skoda don't play ball, drag him outside by the short an curlys to the nearest road and tell him to point out another car other than skoda with wonky door card tops...
