Removing the plastic 'ticket' holder

Featured Replies

Anyone who has a new Octy will know that there is a clear piece of plastic on the windscreen to hold 'tickets'. It's begining to do my nut in as it's right in my line of sight. It seems to be tucked under the windscreen pillar, does anyone know how to remove it without causing damage to the lining?

Thanks in advance.

Don't try to force cut it, it'll bend and stay bent :(. You'll have to remove the pillar cover and do it properly. I'd guess and ICE shop or dealer (of course) would do it easily.

In your line of sight?

Are you really short or do you look at the floor next your front wheel a lot.

Mine's nowhere near my line of sight and I find it very useful compared to sticking tickets to the window

Same here - I detest things that block my view for real. The A-pillars are massive and they block my view :( - but that clip is not blocking my view as it's see-through and I never drive with anything under it anyway.

I'd imagine it shouldn't be too hard to remove if you take off the cover, but yep, do it properly for sure as that plastic will bend and then it WILL be even more annoying I'd say ;)

Not sure on the new Octavia...the old it's a case of glass out job from what people have said.

Investigate carefully, worse case will be a small plastic slug left where it snapped off, which I guess actually fixes the problem :D

I'm not particularly short, but I do like my seat at low as it'll go. :)

From what you guys have said it sounds like a bigger job than I thought, maybe I'll just live with it, but it's like when you have a stone chip or bird crap on on your windscreen, your eyes are drawn to it. :(

I noticed it quite a lot when I first got my car (old Octy) but don't notice it at all anymore - you'll get used to it :)

It's a useful little device.Better than having gunge from tickets on the window :)

You will forget about it.Unless we all keep talking about it ;)

Will it slide up or down to get it out of the way?

I dont know what i'd do without my ticket holder tbh,

I had to have a windcreen changed after a stone gave me a nasty crack and i checked and double checked with autowindscreens that i would still have it afterwards.

I suppose the fact i need to have an A5 pass on my windscreen to get into work will influence me, but its an ace gadget.

Far more use than the central sun visor ;)

I find it an excellent little Gadget, especially visiting different customers sites who all have Car Parking Passes that you have to show.

Looks like I ran into the 'Save the plastic ticket holder' campaign here. ;) I've not had any use for it yet, but as i've only had the Octy a few weeks I'm willing to give it some time to redeem itself.

As mentioned they are all just screwed into the a pillar under the a pillar trim. 5 min job to remove.

Like the majority of posters I would not be without mine. Had one on the Ocky Mk1 and find it very useful.

I can even put DL size letters in it without blocking my line of sight. I don't forget to post them that way.

As has already been said no gunge from pay and display car park tickets.

On the pay and display tickets - I never, ever, put them on my windscreen (or any other window for that matter). I must admit my old car didnt have a plastic clip and it worked just fine putting it on the dash. Only advantage is that officially you're supposed to put it 'against' the windscreen and it won't blow away on a windy day

If you want to remove it, you simply remove the inner A-piller, just held on by a few clips, and there is just 1 screw that is holding the ticket holder in place. Simply remove the screw and put it all together again. Very easy to do.

Mine broke off when I was just cleaning the windscreen. Can't be that hard to break.

I liked it and may try to get another. Do you reckon its covered under warranty??

I'm just glad my Superb doesn't have this nasty cheap looking piece of plastic!!

I've never had any problem with so-called 'gunge' from parking tickets on my windscreen? that said I have a private parking space in town, so dont use car parks often, if I do I just lay the ticket on the dashboard.

I removed mine by simply pulling the a-pillar cover off then unscrewing it, then chucking it in my toolbox at work where it remains today.

It was the source of a rattle/squeak that took me ages to track down.

I have actually got mine in my toolbox at work. I can post it to you if you like?

when I put my PDA in the charger which sticks on the windsreen it covered it anyway, i get a lot of stick for looking like a taxi

get a lot of stick for looking like a taxi

Don't we all?

I couldn't live without mine and would never dream of getting rid of it

Nope but it does rattle Grrrr

Save the plastic clip!

It's a really useful thing -no more hunting for pay and display tickets when they blow off and you know where the tickets are to get your expenses back.:)
