Proper heatshield'd k&n, steering wheel boss for my OMP, camber adj top mount plates, Z3m quick shift, M50 manifold & big bore throttle body, poly bushed diff mount and carrier, mount for my sparco seat :)

Unfortunately where it was damaged they've snapped a coilover :( and damaged the m3 bumper.

Lots of other bits But I won't need them.

Happy chappy! The saying true "it's not what u no its who u now that counts"

Well collected the bits and cracked on with the manifold swap yesterday.

Won't take long I thought......how wrong was I! Had to order an injector overhaul kit as some of the baskets were brittle and broke, also found the charcoal canister damaged (bk over to my mates to rob it later).

All this 5 days before I go away and I'm not home till Thursday night :(

That'll teach me to wait and not be so eager to get stuff fitted :)

M50 manifold fitted and now running :)

Sounds like an angry god gargling nails!

Also ASC (traction control) removed/deleted & thrown in the bin!

Holiday now before I crack on with the rest.

After goin out for a hoon. All I'm going to say is holy ****!

Didn't think I'd notice that much of a difference tbh. How wrong was I. It's like night and day, a bit like goin from a standard vrs to stage 1. It's a totally different car.

Tonight's mission:

Since fitting the OMP I've had the airbag light on (non airbag boss) and it was getting on my moobs!

Took the clocks out whipped out the bulb....buzzing no more light I thought, WRONG!

Them pesky Germans have a back up. It was a bit dimmer but still on. Not impressed! Took the clocks out and inspected the situation and hey presto 1x cotton bud and some black paint = no more airbag light :)

Well what can I say!.....

For a 15yr old car that's just clicked over 165k and was in bits 2 days before my trip to Newquay, I'm pleased to announce it never missed a beat. Over 800 miles (400 odd to a tank) it ran faultless!

So today I decided to treat it and fit the de cat supersprint system that I've been tripping over in the garage :)

Just got to get used to clutch kicking it now until the hydro's fitted. It's a bit different to the Volvo as it takes a lot more to get the back end out.

Left to do:

Fit seat & harness

Fit & plumb in hydro handbrake

Coilovers

DRIFT!

Had a busy few days and nearly gave up on the heap after welded diff 1 died, turns out the poly bushes were garbage and it didnt like them. After a few skids 1's pulled through the mount causing the front mount to bend the bolt and shear it threads, which was causing alsorts of strange noises when sideways. Originally thought it was duff shocks so changed them and ordered some power flex trailing arm bushes as they are looking a bit ropey aswell.

Today I fitted welded diff number 2 using oe bushes and it's back on song, noises and i'm now happy again :)

loving this, keep up the good work!!!!

Now the rear shelf's out I managed to fit the harness eyelets, cut down the headrest mounting's down as they have a split in for the securing pin to sit and hold the headrests in.

Ended up with this, just need welding in to make sure there 100% safe :)

Found time on Sunday to remove the aircon rad and re mount the fan which I'll wire up to a switch in the car, hopefully this weekend. Ordered some seat mounts aswell which fingers crossed I'll fit after its mot Saturday :)

Why the backwards handbrake?

  • Author

Why the backwards handbrake?

It's a hydraulic handbrake, it doesn't lock like a normal one therefore better to initiate skids. The normal handbrake has to stay for mot purposes as a hydro on its own is a failure.

I know that ;)

But why is your normal handbrake mounted backwards?

  • Author

It's not :)

It's a vertical one as opposed to horizontal, you can get either but I went for that because space is an issue and I can mount that nearer the steering wheel so it's easier/quicker to use. Think it's all down to preference really., my mate (with the range in your thread) has took the normal handbrake out of his skyline drifter and fitted a horizontal one it's place because he prefers it that way.

Sorry - crappy phone pictures - looked like you'd reversed the normal handbrake so that the lever was pointing backwards!

  • Author

Haha,

I'll get better pics once I'm 100% sure on where I want it and it's welded in place.

Hopefully picking up the T pieces and unions for it this weekend, just been informed my seat mounts are here aswell so the seat and harness will be in tomorrow ;)

MOT day today.

Also going to assess the bucket seat situation again, had a go yesterday and it didn't play ball.

It passed!

To celebrate we decided to have a play round his unit.

Which resulted in this...............:)

Did you say at any time "Watch this!"?

  • Author

No thankfully :)

Couldn't stop laughing though, it just gripped mid drift and shot forward into some railings. There'll be more damage by the time i'm done with it so I'm not to worried.

You'll need an amber bulb in there, plus it may fail an MOT test with that damage.
