Octavia Drivers - do they look down on us?

Featured Replies

Just wondering - passed a couple of MKII Octavia vRSes in the last week - whilst I've looked round and thought to myself, 'oh, there's an Octavia vRS', the Octavia drivers haven't reciprocated the slightest bit of interest.

In fact, it's happened on numerous occasions. Do Octavia drivers think Fabias are just shopping trolleys or do they see their minicab merely as a means of getting from A to B (and aren't particularly interested in cars)?

NB - this has been written with tongue firmly in cheek ;) .

Hope. We are all in the family for me !

Nope, we all drive POS Skodas

I never get any form of acknowledgement driving my VRS from any other VRS drivers, Octy or Fabia.

There are just too many about to have that "special club" feeling you get with some cars.

And if I starting waving at other Skoda drivers they'd probably all think I was nuts.

Plus I'd have arm ache after 5 minutes.

my old man has a Octavia and don't think he really cares much for the fabia, loves the yeti and superb though :-/

Think you're right - not many MKII Fabia vRSes about though.

Remember my Lupo GTi - I was driving in a small town in NE Scotland (Peterhead) when another Lupo GTI was coming

the other way (guy looked genuinely shocked to see me :giggle: - only 995 sold in UK).

I always get excited when i pull alongside another vrs....... Only to find out its some old codger that dosent have a clue about what there driving : (

I've encountered one on the road in the four months I've had mine - that's a good thing in my book  . Don't want Cooper S style ubiquity!

I always looked down on Fabias when I had my Octy, but now I've got a Superb I look down on everybody B)

I like the Superb - the rear end reminds me of the MKIV Zephyr / Zodiac (massive car with what looks like a disproportionately small boot), but that's probably just me.

Spot the difference -

I used to think that, but then I started looking for the tiny differences between a regular Fabia and the VRS.

They are too similar.

From a quick glance it's pretty difficult to tell the difference unless it's got a funny coloured roof and wheels IMO.

.......but they do have a clue about grammar and punctuation.

Excuse me but what is a Fabia? ;-)

Well a funny little car, costing considerably less than the Octavia vRS, but with almost the same performance..you could almost say, the thinking mans vRS :giggle: :p

Haven,t seen a single MK2 Fab VRS in Dorset yet and nobody down here acknowledges any other Skoda drivers

I haven't seen much fabia vrs around which is good as keeps us special lol

THeres a guy in a blue Octavia vRS that lives around the corner, who shows no interest whatsover in my car or my wife's

Probably represents 90% of Skoda owners TBH

I live 10 minutes shy of Peterhead. What on earth were you doing there? haha

I also find that up here, no Skoda drivers really acknowledge each other. I can understand it to a degree but you'd think the VRS owners would give a little nod of notification. It's good to have that community.

Saying that, I did have a guy in an older 2006 model Octy VRS give me a toot as he drove past. That's about it though.

As a 50 year old "codger" who had driven everything from M3's to a Lamborghini Gallardo, you may find some old codgers who do have a clue...........

That said I took my 25 year old, Mk1 Vrs owning son for a blast and his comment was "f^%kin hell, that's fast". I then let him have a go and he proceeded to thrash the arse off it and scare me ****less...... :whew:

Perhaps its best to leave the boy racing to the boys.........ah well, back into D.......

I didnt meen 50odds my dads in his 50s and drives a bright green sirocco. I was refering to the amount of "older generatian" driving mk1 fabia vrs around and20mph everywhere with there noses just off the windscreen, who just give you a funny look if you acknowledge them

Sorry if iv caused any offence, i knew what i ment in my head it just came out wrong

Driving hme from East Sussex yesterday, a Golf Driver thumbed up and flashed his lights as he approached from the opposite direction. Several Skoda drivers have acknowledged me in the past few weeks, regardless of model.

From a woman driver who loves her vRS!
