  • did you have gap insurance so at least you will get back what you paid for your car?

  • Andyvee I know how an injector works I am a mechanic! What's ur profession? It takes an awfull lot for diesel to ignite so I'm not convinced its anything to do with the injectors themselves.

  • I am not a trained mechanic, I admit. But I have worked in the motor trade for over a decade at main dealers in my younger years and some of the things I have seen beggar belief. I also spent over a d

Injectors and wiring loom as far as i am aware.

Hi there, does anyone know what model years and variants this recall notice is applicable to?

Mine goes in on Wednesday and is a 57 plate Vrs tdi pd, as far as I know its all 170pd engines.

Simon

Happy days sounds like a winner enjoy the new feel car!

Thanks for the information. I've just been on VOSAs website and it doesnt list this recall notice for vehicles older than 2009/10.

I've got an Octy VRS TDI PD 57-Plate and have not received anything in the post. I even spoke to my local Skoda dealer about an unrelated issue last week and they didn't say anything either. I've had the DMF recall work done. Strange one this.

Call Skoda UK 08457745745 I called last week to make sure there was nothing on my car as its 10 months old now they will check it off your chassis number or registration no.

Had mine done 3 weeks ago, some don't get letters so ask ur dealer and just book it in to be done, also the loom is not covered as of the last month,I told them to replace mine and I payed €89 for it for piece of mind,

I didn't notice any difference to drive with the new injectors so I presume my old ones were working ok.

I was glad to get the new ones for free tho so I don't have to worry down the line, also I have no cold start issues with the new injectors :)

Only on pd170 engines NOT cr engine so i think pre 09.

Edit; double post.

I'm almost sure it's all PD170 incl all VAG group but not CR.

not all pd 170's Just those fitted with Siemens injectors .Changing them for Bosch

Most are on recall

Spoke to Skoda UK today and asked the question for my Octy VRS TDI PD and they said to go to local dealer and get it

booked in for the injector work. Will sort this tomorrow.

Hope they do a better job of the check than they did on mine today!!! this was within 5 miles of collecting it!!!iphone054.jpgiphone055.jpg

I m totally gutted only had the car a week!!!

Simon

Oh man, guttered for you! I hope your issurance company take the dealer to court!

Holy crap. Really sorry for you.

Good god!!

Hope you get it sorted, get onto Skoda UK, speak to Will Fisher

Gutted for you!

Dealers/SUK's responsibility now!

Did you get your car recovered back to the dealers?

No it was recovered by the police to their agents yard as it was blocking the road. The dealer has given me a courtesy car and I am waiting to hear from their insurance company. Really fed up as just looked on Auto Trader and can't find one with as low mileage for the same kind of money I paid a week ago!!!!

I haven't tried SUK yet as I will see what the dealer comes up with first. Never had to deal with something like this before so don't know what to do for the best.

Simon

Frightening! I feel for you.

Any idea where abouts in the bay the fire started?

Man that is really bad news but glad you got out ok.

If nothing else you could try to reject the car as it most certainly is not fit for purpose.

I'd be looking at getting the dealer to source a replacement vehicle of equal or better specification, age and mileage

The fire started at the rear of the engine so I think it was a leak onto the turbo (either diesel or oil)
