How much have you spent on your car on mods/upgrades/power etc?

Featured Replies

Wonder who's top spender on modding, power, upgrades and so on.

Servicing doesn't count.

I'd say I've spent £800 on the looks of the car and £600 on engine and chasis.

Measly ... £1400

Hmm, don't want to think about it really. Over several years I have easily injected £20k, possibly £25k into my car. Sometimes when changing bits I sell old stuff on again, but I'm not really counting that.

Too much! Probably around 5k since August

nothing :)

probably only a few hundred quid.... the big mods have all been swapped for my standard parts (brakes, suspension and wheels).... only things i had to pay for is the coded door handles, the paint etc for the grill i did and the lamin-x.

Haven't got the money, time or a 2nd car to do anything big like some of you nutters have :giggle:

Mine's still my daily driver :) (he says as its been in a garage for two weeks waiting for the manifold to be sorted....)

Car cost 8k and I've spent about 15k on it, so I don't think I'll be catching you up. :)

That's the reason it was built to a good spec from day one. Chopping and changing different bits would have spread the cost, but the amount spent would have been much higher.

I don't have many more plans for further upgrades at the moment.

Spent about the same on the car as I paid for it.

So including suspension, brakes, clutch and dmf,

timing belt, exhaust, spray work, wheel refurb,

and many other little bits and pieces over 3 years

I've probably blown about 4.5k (Psssst... Don't tell the other half :p )

or you could be really lucky like Sy and get tuning companies to make your car the working prototype and get it all for almost nothing lol :giggle:

Only £800 on the Fabia. Nothing for the Megane...yet.

Dont ask!! :doh: :'( :swear::wall::@ ..........and relax. Not my problem now. :giggle: Happy days are here again....

Ive had 10 cars over the past 6 years so im going to say at least 10k collectively

Looking back its such a waste of money but im hooked!!

If we're including repairs, over £4000!! :( Just general mods, only about £100. :)

Ha ha, helps to tart yourself about, I'm guilty of that one. So far off the top of my head freebies are

Milltek turbo back exhaust inc sports cat, software mapping (development car)

Hybrid turbo, Brembo four pots (removed from demo car going back to standard)

Forge FMIC, intake, header tank, dress up caps etc (development/show Bocanegra)

Plus all labour free if I do fit anything..lol

Spent over £10k :o on the Vectra V6 I had before the Octy, so not going to even bother working out what i've spent on the VRS, modding is a waste of money but addictive

Its something that I just can't bring myself to think about. I'm happy with acknowledging the amount I drank and smoked over the years, but adding up how much I've spent n the last two years on something that isn't even on the road yet is something I can't bring myself to contemplate and admit. BTW just picked up a nice shiny set of Omega forged pistons for the big money power engine build project...lovely jubbly

I just count it as a good hobby.

Hmmmm...

- Stereo: 100

- Amp: 120

- Speakers: 60

- Tuning box: 90

- Grille: 30

- Splitter: 10

- Spacers: 10

Future plans are the expensive ones. S3 Recaro interior (400?), decat (170), intercooler (110 + pipes?), remap and colour coding. Then I'm done. Saving for a house and have guitars and photography to spend on too!

I reckon Luke (xosaox) is in 2nd place after Jason. Never spent a penny on upgrades when I had my VRS, it was all done when I bought it.

Car cost me about £11,300 brand new in Jan 2001 with the dealer fit Skoda accessories (leather steering wheel, mud flaps, mats etc)......then as for mods (not including repairs/general maintenance)........£1,500 to £2,000 say.......I hope no more.... :giggle:

Just done a quick tot up, and it's about 2k over the last 18 months or so.

Beyond replacing my clutch, flywheel and boost pipework, I'm hoping to spend no more big amounts on this car. It's just not worth it.

If I want something faster, I'm going to chop it in and start with something faster to begin with :)

Last vRs was only £300 for 312mm brakes. I still have those to see if anyone's interested?

This car technically my only mods are a £50 boot cover, mudflaps and new Thule feet for my old bars for my roof rack. Total cost about £150

This is my thinking too. It's better suited to the task for a start. The most I'll be doing is a remap and intercooler, maybe lowering but that's it.

Haven't done loads to mine and i dont wish to, it has to be a daily.

Iv haven't paid full price for anything iv had done though :)

KW V1's Inox; Secret price ;)

Dare LP5 alloys; Sould of been £550, paid £400

Powder coated for £145

Window Tints; Should of been £200 paid £150

Remap; Secret price

In total with car iv spent about £11,000 but theres still a few things i want to do like DPF delete and possible stage 2 remap with uprated clutch, depends on finances

My first modded car was a 2.2 honda prelude vtec BB1 I paid £3500 For but £13k+ was spent before I had it and I spent £3500 upping the power from 190hp to 235hp and a full leather interior. I traded it in for the skyline got £4000 and paid £3000 cash. Money spent on the skyline before I bought was around £7k mark and my spend on it is standing at the mo a figure of £16k but that's gonna go up soon as I'm planning on going on the track so need a few things doing. Mainly upgrading my brakes again to K-sport 8 pot 356mm front brakes and a bit of extra cooling. My Skoda paid £5500 and so far I've spent £700 on in 3 months of ownership. Not gonna spend to much more on the Skoda though as its my daily, just a remap and the right set of OEM wheels VW or Audi preferable, new speakers in all the doors and mayb a little boot spoiler
