hiya Des,

Did you have a good time, how long did you go for?

Looks very hot!

Hope you enjoyed it, and nice pictrues. even if you dont think they are very good-it dosen't matter to people like me who have never been-at least we can see what its like:)

Lorna

Nothing wrong with those photos.

Was it as impressive as it looks?

Lo Lorna,

Words cannot describe the place.

We plan to go back as we didn't see the Pyramids or the temple at Abu Simbul (spelling?) for that reason. It's just so different to holidays we have had in the past. Temp was generally in the low to mid 30's so quite hot. I'll try and find somewhere to host the other pics once i've edited out the family ones.

Good pics , reminds me of my trip to Luxor a couple of years ago , which travel company did you go with , and where there any bargains in the market . Am thinking of returning after seeing your pics .

It's hard to imagine the scale of everything, i'll try and find a pic to demonstrate. The tour guides tend to get you involved in the sites we visited and you get a better feel for the place and what it was like to live in that time. What really got to me was the way of life out there, very hard to explain how I felt seeing it and the blissful ignorance on their smiling faces of the so called civilized world.

Delcac me and the missus were looking at going to t'egypt this year can i ask where you stayed? Any recommendations? Looks a superb different holiday experience to go on!

What was getting around like as ive heard that is the biggest down point as most things are miles away from everywhere else and i would need to hire a car! (only 20 so not sure if i am legal to hire one yet!)

Cheers

BTW great pics mate!

That's where our Hotel was, The Pyramisa Isis in Luxor. We booked through Panorama for the hotal and the trips. On hindsight it would have been cheaper do go our own way just more hassle, swings and roundabouts really. Word of advise never buy anything in the Bazaars/markets unless you are willing to bargain really hard, it's cheaper in the hotel shops. These guys can teach our salesman a thing or two.

We stayed in luxor which was more or less central to most sights but be warned trips to Cairo/Pyramids are not cheap from here,

Pics of the hotel and views

Me and SWMBO have planned a two week honeymoon in Egypt staying in three different places (can't remember the names). Apparently it will be about 40 degrees when we go in August, but can't wait. All i have heard are good reoprts so far.

Thanks for that , last time i went in 2002 was with Voyages Jules Verne , early August . They do some good all in packages as only specialise in exotic holidays . Stayed at the Sheraton right on the Nile , would recomend , however your hotel looks very good as well . Did remember our eygptian guide saying that Cairo during the summer is Hot Hot Humid and smells , would think 1 week at Luxor and a week on the Red Sea would be a good combination .

Wow! looks beautiful

Now for the stupid question .I love going in the sea.Doesn't look necessary with that pool.Anyway.Are there sharks or was that just a stupid recollection of mine?

Sorry if we are treating you like Lunn Poly.Just find Egypt et al very interesting :)

Thought you'd been a bit quiet Des, so did you get a sun tan?

Looks very nice Des, but I must remember to not let R see those piccies, as she keeps on about going that way for a hol....but not sure the kids would like it :D

Go to Hurgarda, you will be well pleased..Several years ago SWMBO and I did a cruise down the Nile on the MS RA11 with all the touristy trips, then a week at The Hilton Hurgarda on the Red Sea, and being a PADI diver guess where I went most days, good diving but the reefs are becoming very crowded. Dived the Barrier Reef in Australia last year and that was far better.

Also did the flight down to Abu Simbul, mind blowing when you consider they moved the whole thing stone by stone and repositioned it when they built the dam.

Not too sure how to attach piccies on here yet.

There are sharks in the Red Sea, but they are not a problem.[/quote']

That's a defi to Hurghada. Even thought they moved and rebuilt the temple at Abu Simbul they still managed to **** it up, there are plans to rebuild it again.

PS What pics you got, e-mail them to me and I will post.

Andy,

You've got to go and my kids loved it.

Hi Des

Dunno about Egypt, but the angle etc on your first pics was ace IMO and the clarity on your hotel pics is brill IMO. Bet you're glad you went now
