Clap's Fabia vRS

He has spent an insane amount on audio like £3k plus and looking to get new subs hoofing double the power. I apologise for not turning up as my girlfriend was going to back to uni monday morning so spent the evening with her.

But yeah by all means please come to the next meet, I look forward to seeing the pristine condition of your paintwork! There is one of the 16th and the 30th. I might create a thread on here for a Southampton meet.

Those exhausts really suit it. My opinion of course, but the 3" ones are too big. Those ones really look like they should be there from factory. Good work!

Picked the car up today from having the audio upgraded. The difference in sound quality is incredible, cant believe I waited so long to do it.

A list of the parts fitted.

Pioneer AVH-2400BT

Hertz HDP 4 Amp

Massive Slim Series SK6 - 6.5"

Hertz Energy ES 250 Sub

Both front components amped. And front doors sound proofed.

I'll get some pictures later as pictures speak a 1000 words.

Then in January the car is going back to have a proper boot build install, and then hopefully to be featured in a car audio magazine.

Also put some sound proofing on the back of the door card to stop any vibrations.

Well had a few problems with the car today. Ended up having to flush all the coolant system out, then filling it back up and draining it down again a few times to get it all perfect. While I was doing it all I replaced some of the coolant hoses and put all new coolant in. And the expansion tank isn't looking good, so going to get a new one.

On a positive though got some brembos ordered :)

They smarten up the engine bay a bit, and went for black to keep it subtle. :)

Not really done a great deal in terms of maintenance since owning the car. So thought I would change over the oil and brake fluid. All supplied by Opie Oils :)

I didnt think my cabin filter was that bad, but thought I would add one onto the order anyway. But then when comparing them side by side..

The OEM one is carbon activated, hence it being black in colour :)

8litres of oil should do nearly 2 oil changes as well! (4.5l capacity in the vRS) Good work, its in the detail/maintenance as well :)

A man after my own heart... you clearly seek perfection and are not happy until you've achieved it.... job done for sure  .... The fresh paintwork makes it look stunning.... my missus wants to lick your car as it looks sooooo smooth and shiney! (she's a little weird like that :D )

I would love a basic respray but can't justify the big?? expense, but will be keeping mine for a while so we'll see

Keeping it looking good will keep you busy I reckon!

I never knew that! that explains the colour of it then. Was still too dirty for my liking though.

And Opie Oils have 30% off their Castrol Edge range + forum discount of 10%, so it was a really good price. So bought two 4L rather than a 4L and a 1L :)

I almost treat the car as a hobby, so I do spend a large amount of time looking after it and doing things to it. My mates think i'm obsessed!

Well your missus is free to lick the paint if shes wants.. although I'm not sure it will taste that good.. the wax I use does smell like liquorice though so it may do! :D

It is a relatively big expense, but luckily I have family in the car trade. The average price of a vrs when I bought mine was about £4500. My dad had just took the vrs as a px, I bought it from him at trade price (£3000) then had it resprayed at trade price (£900). So overall I still spent less than the retail price of vrs's at the time. :)

Not 100% happy with the paintwork though, the paintshop never spent enough time polishing out the paint after it was sprayed. So next year I need to invest in a DA Polisher to get the paint completley perfect!

Yeah I'm the same, hobby is the best way to explain it to those who don't understand!

Get yourself a rotary over a DA I reckon.... All down to personal preference of course but many would argue you'd get better results.... Can borrow mine I you're close enough (on me phone!)

£900 trade price doesn't seem too bad.... At a guess close to £2k for me then.... Really considering it as just about to make mine a weekend toy only so will be garaged most of the time, but also want some toys added.... Decisions decisions!!

Machine polishing is completely new territory to me, So i'm rather clueless about it all. I'm still rather worried about getting it wrong and f**cking up the paintwork with it!

I recon for a respray you would probably be looking more between £1000-£1500 depending on the condition of paintwork. Always worth looking around for a reputable paint shop though.

And what other toys do you have in mind of adding??

For a taster get yourself over to detailingworld.co.uk and get reading!

You will notice a lot of posts "should I go DA or rotary" due to some of to horror stories about people going thru the clear coat, but i bit the bullet and went rotary.... Buy yourself an old Fabia door to practice on first ;)

Well my engine is standard at the mo, so considering how much I wanna do, (just a map or full stage 2!?!) but also want leather from seat surgeons.... Can't do all of that, buy a new house and snowboarding holidays, so something has to give :(

Just had a quick browse on there, Seems to be a DA will be safer for a beginner so I'll probably head down that route, also found a guide on machine polishing which will come in helpful! Thanks!

Your ideas are exactly the same as mine! :D I'd love a full stage 2, but that wont be happening anytime soon. And I had recently been looking to see if funds would allow for seat surgeons leather sometime soon.. ! fortunately i'm not needing to buy a new house, wouldn't mind a skiing holiday though..! (I can ski but not board) :)

Agree the DA is safer, and completely personal choice, but its not a fire breathing monster!!

I started with a rotary on my Audi, with NO practice panel in sight. I went rotary as VAG paint is considers hard and the DA would have taken a lot longer and feared losing patience!

Possibly a bit silly but spent weeks, if not months reading all the various threads and guides before and understood the process very well, then had a go.... Really slowly and carefully!

I was all set for a drive up shark and seat surgeons in jan/February but with buying the house (only decided and sorted this on Monday!) I'm now needing the money i had set aside for a remap and leather being put towards fees :( but hey!

If either of you are in or around Kent I'll happily take you for a quick spin in my fabia. I've got the stage 2 hybrid pd130 :-)

Definitely going to spend some time reading up on it more so I've got a good understanding of it before starting. And probably wont bother with a practice panel either, if I mess it up then so be it!

That's a shame especially as you had it all set aside! But that's life I guess..

Cheers dude, awesome offer but the closest I get to you without trying is Milton Keynes snozone! (I'm in bristol) but if I get that far will give you a shout :)

Worth spending the time reading up if you want to maintain the awesome paintwork you have.... I'm

Tempted to get a DA anyway for to safety on plastics, although that said I've just had my front and rear bumpers resprayed a few weeks ago so shouldn't need a proper mop for a while as its only me who washes it and am very meticulous in caring for the paintwork since joining detailingworld a few years ago :)

Brembos! My front discs and pads both needed replacing so made sense to upgrade now.

Freshly refurbished calipers, they look like new though.

Although they aren't the normal LCR brembos which people normally fit. These are monobloc whereas LCR ones arent :) These also run 312mm discs rather than 323mm.

Going to be fitted with mintex pads and ebc discs, and also fitting custom made brake lines.

really nice! are they of any car exactly, i have seen 312 brembos on older porsches.

Do you mind me asking you where got the brake hoses from?
