90k, worth cleaning the intercooler and erg ?

Featured Replies

Not sure how big a job this is

I'm not a diy newb but also not against dropping it in to save the effort also.

I get the concept generally would involve bumper or lining off to reach intercooler etc.

Also I also now am starting to wonder if I could have symptoms of a bit of boost leak as under high load I've heard what can only be described as a wasp/fly stuck somewhere - but to date had put this down as being something like the fuel pump or something like that !

Anyone done this and it was worth the effort, or would it actually be better looking at replacing with FMIC/ remap etc.

I don't feel quite ready to go down that route at the moment quite yet due to insurance just coming up and not wanting to load it as its expensive enough ! Plus not sure of my working circumstances for the moment

EGR and intercooler cleaning is preventive maintenance that will pay on a long run tenfold.

intercooler probably ain't worth it, but cleaning out the EGR AND the inlet manifold too will reap dividends in the long run

Best way to clean out the inlet manifold is this! ;)

I did mine the hard way! Took ages, but well worth it. If you remove the EGR, afterwards you'll have a clean inlet manifold for life! Also the inlet ports will be less gunked up too.

Which engine do you have though, I understand BLT this isn't clear cut as it will keep throwing codes/engine light and plus could it affect the fueling also. I believe it can be mapped out tho?

Sorry, yes BLT can't be mapped out :(

You could get an oil catch tank for the breather, which will prevent further clogging up instead
