Scraped in a car park

Featured Replies

Must have been done in Heathrow short stay this past week. Got back late last night, approached from the other side, threw my stuff in and went home. This morning, I noticed this:

Of course, no note or anything left. There's a proper dent on the rear door, scuffs from front door to rear wing. The car is just over 6 months old :(

Would one of the SMART repairers / Dentmaster type places be able to sort it out, or am I likely to need a proper bodyshop? This will be out of my own pocket, insurance is expensive enough as it is.

Nobody has any respect for other peoples property anymore. Scumbags!

I feel your pain. Scumbags

I feel really gutted for you, I could never do that to someone.

Sorry to see that and it's right there isn't any respect for others anymore!!

it looks creased, so a smart repair will not be possible. You'll need a new door skin to remove that dent, might as well get the other damaged panels painted at the same time.

I had a similar dent and scrape over my rear wheel arch on a previous motor. Called chips away who can do quite bad dents, and it cost me £200. They will have to respray up to the nearest natural crease in the bodywork so that it is un-noticeable. I would have thought around £300 would cover your damage from what i can see in the picture.

No CCTV at the Airport carpark should be. Airport security an all. Just a thought

As others have said, too few people respect other peoples propery these days.

Might be worth calling chips away as mentioned, have heard lots of good things about them, and they will come out to you to quote for free so you've nothing to lose.

Last 2 cars I had have both suffered from car park incidents, one within days of having it. I know exactly how you feel :(

Even when you find a well away spot on a very empty carpark, some people feel your car needs company and parks up right next to yours !

That's an expensive repair. Let's hope the person responsible gets a red hot poker up their jacksie :punch:

Absolute joke, arseholes some people!im mortified for you mate I bet your livid!

Hope you get it sorted mate - cheap and quick.

Was going back to my car one day and I witnessed in a quiet alley a driver, in his 50s, scrapping a parked car on its left side (door and spoiler were a mess). He stops and clearly ****ed off gets out of the car. Check's HIS damage, looks at me, mumbles some words and then gets in and runs off! You f@%^&r I said to myself. Noted his license plate and later left a message on the damaged car. Didn't hear a thing so I'm not sure what the other driver did.

Really shows you the mentality of some people - and at then end of the day the insurance company will pay for it so where is the problem????

Not good, wife came out from work on Fri to find this,

Needless to say they'd done a runner.

Man that is nasty!

They always seem without fail to hit two or more panels :|

Man that is nasty!

Just a bit, no scrape marks though, it's as if someone just drove into it backed out and drove off.

From previous experience I would explain and ask the car park if there is any CCTV footage. Sometimes its a bit of farting around with no results but it's worth asking see if you can get the scumbags to pay up!

Don't think you will get it done for anywhere for £300 double at least

This sort of behaviour is pathetic and makes me cringe every time I see it.

This is why I park as far away from main entrances to places as possible, people still seem to enjoy parking next to me though.

Hope it gets sorted mate.

The damage seems high up, it could have been a 7.5 tonne with the thick rubber over the rear bumper.

It's a year or two back but my mate returned to his car to find it was bumped.

There was a note under the wiper that read as follows;

"I am very sorry but I have just hit your car with mine.

It made a lot of noise and several people were around and noticed what had happened so I couldn't just drive off.

As there were witnesses I thought I had better leave a note.

The witnesses look relieved as they can see me writing this note and looking concerned.

They are going now probably expecting that i have put my details on this note.

However I have not."

As you might expect he was not very impressed.

Couple of years ago somebody in a 4x4 reversed into my SWIMBOs Micra and completely caved in the tailgate -however they did leave a really apologetic note so rang 'em up and they paid in full to have it fixed, result!!
