GTI International - 25th Anniversary

Jonno Vrs I also heard about this while I was queuing up for a drink and some food, a chap in front mentioned it. Two air ambulances arrived, three people injured one with a broken pelvis.

Hope the people make a speedy recovery and are ok. I don't know what car was involved.

Show was good, not alot of Skodas at all tbh. I did see the yellow Fabia on BBS replicas (Lensos) I believe, he is on here.

And also a silver Fabia mk1 VRS on purple Merc rims with purple LCR front splitter. Looked lovely, and loved the rear camber, I need together some of those shims.

Also spotted the Mk1 Fabia VRS in black with smoothed front bumper and also pink interior, which was nice.

And also met Timfok just off the M1 a little lost like we were, nice to meet you fella! And we got there in the end lol!

Didnt witness the accident but was about 100 yards away when it happened.Air ambulance were quickly in attendance thank goodness as 3 people were badly injured after a white Seat Leon veered of the track through the bollards and fencing directly into the path of spectators.

Dont now any more than that. Fingers crossed they make a speedy recovery.

Hey mate good to meet and talk to you earlier.

Thanks for the info on Revo mate, also going to look at the new APR remap due out next week according to the american rep I was talking to.

No problem, I don't think you would be disappointed with APR; it's a safe choice.

Mine must have been invisible - no wonder I didn't win the show ’n’ shine :(

Saw yours both days!

I was just behind the stand for the quarter mile when the Leon went into the crowd, wasn't nice to see!

Before that I had a great time, cars, camping, beers and a bbq couldn't of asked for more! really lucky with the weather in the end.

Although kind of forgotten with the accident, wasn't a nice drive home after seeing that. Really hope everyone recovers! Was so unfortunate to happen, I really feel sorry for the lad driving it but how does your steering wheel fall off! Maybe a detachable one gone wrong?

Also nice to meet devonutopia, thanks for adding a nice couple of features via the vag con :)

OOOOOO thats mine!

Was a good show - not many Skodas as has been said already but was pretty cool

A real shame about the accident - Apparently the Quick Release steering wheel in the Leon came loose shortly after the driver started his run - And apparently whilst trying to stop or replace the wheel the car veered into the crowd - The emergancy services where there very quickly as well - Hope everyone is ok

good to see someone taking a pic of my car, although it makes me realise how badly it needs lowering

Up to the accident was a good show, wishing everyone involved a speedy recovery.

Saw Jason, Brimma and Sam(softscoop).

Plenty of Skoda's in main car park, and as mentioned not that many in main show arena.

Managed one run up the strip 0-60 7.2, 1/4 15.5, would of preferred not to bog down so much, will have to try again next year, if Health and Safety don't ban it after today.

Crash was not nice by the sounds of it. I can see next year there being temporary concrete barriers (like they have on roadworks) between the cars and the crowds. Temporary railings is never enough, but then this does seem to be a very rare occurrence.

the first incident of this nature in gti internationals 25 year history i hear,a friend and i where stood close to where it happened about 20ft and got splashed by the water in the barriers,we were both very shook up afterwards.

this years event was alot better than the last i went, upto the incident,i hope the people involved are ok

Great to meet you too mate! Don't think I mentioned, you're Fabia was looking awesome, very clean and smart.

Overall great show, really gutted about the accident, and hope everyone is OK.

I was due to go up the strip, but there was some confusion with pre-paid sprint tickets, and I had to turn around.

Bumped into the Shark stand on the way back, and I left £179 lighter with an extra bhp or too :p

Some pics I took on my iPhone

Yes me to this was first time We been in about 4 years

and I was thinking of TT too

won show n shine which i am over the moon with!!

was right next to the accident when the car came though almost got took out myself by the barrier!! first reaction was to see if everyone was ok!

the accident was handled very well i thought.

Other than the accident that has already been mentioned I had a great day. Saw a fair few VRS around here I was there mainly for the strip. Managed a 14.81 although a little disappointed with the lack of grip or traction I was able to get but what's to be expected on a Tarmac runway. Apologies to the octy I left in my cloud of smoke on the strip :p

Yes I remember seeing you go up the sprint :)

Anyone take any pictures?

Hey thats my stinking dirty Octy :). Did the badges a few weeks ago and happy with the outcome.

Was landed with the offer Shark had on and ended up with a stage 2 car leaving the show :) (pity i couldnt boot it home as the MAF on my car has packed up and running like a pig, not due to the remap it was already shot), but few days il be able to get it changed and can feel that the car is very rapid now! Talking to Ben (top guy by the way) and with my intake and decat should be around the 275BHP mark. At £299 it was an offer i couldnt refuse.

On a bad note myself and the missus witnessed the accident. We were stood on the opposite side of the track and so saw the car go into the crowd which was not something we wanted to see. My thoughts go out to the 3 injured people and also the driver of the car who had no control on what was happening. Air ambulance was there in minutes and fair play to all the services involved they handled a difficult issue incredibly well.
