  • So when are you getting super fast broadband? 24 meg is entry level?

  • I still have one of those AOL CDs, kept for its brilliant instructions - see step 1... I often wondered if anyone actually tried it.

  • I used to use the Zen test binaries, but the max size is only 100 meg, so gone in the blink if you have fatties man sized connection. http://fuller.zen.co.uk/test/

No it's not is it!

Wishing the week away

Wish it was :D Tomorrow my good man.

Just leave that there.

BT Engineer said line was good for 103Mbit!

Is it Thursday today then??

Looks good, excellent Ping!

How does that translate into actually downloading something then? What constant throughput do you get when you are downloading a large file?

Cool, thanks for answering my questions, can't wait for the 9th of May now!

Let me know once you've got it - I have the tools you need in order to unlock the BT Modem*. With this you can find the "max attainable rate" and decide whether or not to go for the 80/20 profile..

*DISCLAIMER: This is probably naughty as it's BT Openreach property. I do not condone breaking other peoples property, but I can condone finding out whether ot not it's really worth forking out extra cash ;)

Mine shows max attainable rate of 79Mb down / 24Mb up, so I'll be going 80Mb as soon as ;)

Sky are charging another extra tenner for the 80mbps product, £30 per month is a bit much considering I don't work from home or anything so don't really need it.

Not on the web site but apparently from April the 25th it's been available if you log into your Sky account and do a line test to see if your line supports it, you might want to check? It doesn't seem to work for me, wonder if it's because I already have an order open.

No won't let me order it.

Strangely though I can't order 80mb if I try my mother in laws number (She lives across the street)

I hear they are only offering 80 to new customers, on the telephone.

nope - i upgraded to 80/20 from 40/10 about 10 days ago. Been an Infinity customer since Nov 2010.

Downloaded your microsoft service pack in 45 sec

BT were sending out engineers to fit new modems to infinity customers who were early adopters with the lower spec modems. Mine was upgraded around Feb. So if you have not had a letter then you should have the better modem.

No no, I can't upgrade yet as I'm not with BT :)

I'm with Sky

Just got my infinity 2 connection sorted today. Pretty happy with that! Hope speed doesn't drop off during the 10 day learning period.

We have been with ntl/Virgin Vermin Media for years. Last week after a phone call to complain to them, they installed a new TV box (HD V-box) and their Super Hub. We were upgraded from 10 meg to 30 meg.

However, the internet seams to be even slower than normal!

Here is the results I got a few mins ago. :o

That is supposed to be 30 Mb/s. :@ Having said that, the upload speed is quicker than it was before (around 1Mb/s)

Im getting 62.50Mb/s download and 5.5Mb/s Upload now I've had my speed upgrade from Virgin Media.

Well, that's when I plug it in, over the wireless it struggles to get over 20 and Idon't know why?

Well the super hub is pants, I have it in modem mode and have a different wireless router....works better

Ask them to check your power levels, I had a problem of really slow internet and they came out and checked it and found the power levels were all out, they adjusted them and it was fine afterwards.

Thats appaling. Have you tried actual downloads or run the speedtest through an ethernet cable to rule out wireless issues.

I could make you all jealous with a speedtest from my office......1GBPS anyone? :D

Wifi G or N ?

Superhub can't do bith at the same time, 25 Mbps is about G's limit in my experience, haven't done a lot via N but iirc it's 50Mbps in my house

It can. Wireless APs can provide b/g/n over 2.4GHz. I think you're thinking of 5GHz, of which not many mainstream APs can dual 2.4 and 5.

That test was done on our main computer which is hard wired to the hub, which is on top of the computer. I haven't yet tried to download anything yet.

Just done it a few mins ago and got this result which is a bit better.

How do you look at the setting of the Hub? How do you find the Password (I'm sure it'll have one)? We were not given any instructions with it.
