Mk11 petrol vrs purchased

Recommended Posts

Ok so after 2 mk1 vrs i have now taken the plunge and bought a 57 plate vrs and am like a child am really looking forward to getting it home .

I pick it up on Sunday and its going to be a long day taking it home to Aberdeen .

My first question its can i plug my ipod into the stereo through and aux anywhere in the car ?

I have a 465 mile trip home how much fuel will i use lol ?

Assuming it has the jumbo box, 2007 vRS's could still be had without one, rear electrics windows or the 18" alloys.

To the OP, the jumbo box is the storage compartment under the central arm rest between the front seats - its far from jumbo size by the way :giggle:

No arm rest = no jumbo box = no AUX in socket.

465 miles in a petrol vRS at motorway speeds will be near enough a full tank, so £70?

Been looking for 3 weeks to get one in my range and i new i was going to have to come south of the border .

Flying from Aberdeen to Gatwick on Sunday morning at 7am then heading to Canterbury where my friend is collecting his new vectra vxr :bandit: , then heading north for 2 hrs to collect my vrs . Its going to be i long ass day !

Its a case of Planes Trains and automobiles lol

Don't forget to take/budget for some form of cash collecting advance warning ( sat nav with camera info) . Especially if you're enjoying the delights of a decent car .

Has the seller confirmed on the aux socket? Reckon that will be right in the cross-over period. Depends on the build week on a 57-plate but I'll wager it will have one fitted :)

And if you get 465 miles out a petrol vRS TFSI I'll be amazed! 12Gal tank, that'll need a tank average MPG of nearly 39 (real-life) and you'd have to run it dry!

Best I ever got out of my old one was 37MPG, sat between 70 & 75 on a 2hr m/way run.

Enjoy it though

If you fix it at 70 you might get 420 out of a tank. I can get about 37mpg on cruise control at 70.

At 80 you'll be down to 32mpg.

Since it's new to you you'll probably get about 17-25mpg for the first couple of weeks. It'll be fun though.

Gutted didnt get my car or should say wont be as the deal fell through so to speak as theres still finance on the car. Garage told me it was all clear but its not .

Waiting till i get the all clear now from vw finance and they say it paid before i take it home . Pain in the arse means 2 flights south now instead of one !!

Fantastic thats what i want to here so will go armed with cable s lol

So the aux is just the normal jacking cable what would i need for the other one if its there ?

Hope you get the HPI sorted soon!

If you have an MDI socket in the glove box you need a short MDI to Ipod adaptor lead. £26 ish from dealer or pennies on ebay. Search for MDI Ipod Skoda or Audi or VW or Seat as MDI is common to them all.

Good luck.

Even if it has an AUX socket, don't expect too much in the way of quality and of course you don't have any conrol over the ipod from the stereo. I would consider fitting a Bolero or Columbus system and retrofit the MDI interface. It's really not that difficult and only involves whipping out the glovebox, cutting a hole in the side for the cable and plugging the interface box inline with the large connector on the back of the stereo. While you're at it and if funds allow, fit the bluetooth kit at the same time. I reckon you can easily fit all of this in a day without specialist knowledge and it transforms the car.

All parts available on ebay :-)

If your looking for a Bolero I have a 2012 one including code and carbon fibre surround/trim. Just been taken out of my Feb 2012 Octy vRS as I have fitted a Columbus and Bluetooth. PM me if interested :-)
