Buying Used Superb MKII

Featured Replies

Hello.

I'm going to look at a MKII Superb today, it's a one owner car. Former taxi. It's a 59 plate S model with the 1.9 TDI (PD) oil burner engine in it. It's done ninety odd thousand miles. There's service history with it, as per all taxis presumably, but I haven't looked at that yet.

I'm just wondering if there are any qualms about buying such a car. I know people ramble on about how former taxis should be kept clear of but this car is only three years old, doesn't qualify for MOT until September. I imagine it's been well maintained given that it's been a taxi. What I'm wondering is whether to (when/if I buy it) go and service it. Of course that'll depend on when it was last done.

But with 90,000+ on the clock, what sort of service should I give it? If any. Only three years old mind. I've a MK1 Superb just now, I gave it a long life service two years ago and the engine (at least) has been fine until now. Just getting a bit sick of it, nothing really the matter with it but there are a few creaks and croaks that infuriate me.

Any tips?

Regards

Paul

Afraid I can't offer any Suggestions other than to shop around so you can try and identify common flaws.

I can see there are some high mileage elegance models on trader too if you fancied leather.
