Due for a service

Featured Replies

Well, the VRS is due for its first service. The main dealer want a rather large sum to do what I know isn't a lot of work. That said, I'm keen to keep a good service history and I'd like recommendations for VAG service agents in the West Yorkshire area....

Cheers

I paid £116 at Shark

Watch out ask first for a price, I was stung for £220 they removed the wheels and put them back again and charged me £100 more, so ask before you sign for a service

Do you have to get your car serviced at a main dealer to maintain the warranty? Or am I right in thinking you can go to any garage?

Any garage aslong as its genuine parts i belive

I bought some castrol oil and a oem oil filter cost me £42 and 30minutes of my time.

I got a friend to stamp my book though

You can get the car serviced anywhere, as long as original parts are used, but should something happen outside warranty you run the risk that Skoda UK will not provide a goodwill gesture in the event of a major mechanical failure.

You could also miss workshop campaign notices whereby non critical issues are repaired for free as identified by the main dealers computer as no independents will have access to this data, or would be likely to do the work for free.

It's a bit of a trek from you but I'd recommend Alex Laurie in Liverpool if you're on Merseyside any time. First service was £111 and they did a bunch of warranty stuff for me at the same time.

I've got mine in for some work at Brookroyd in Harrogate at the moment. Skoda specialist run by a former Skoda dealer I believe. Price is great and they specifically advertise that their work keeps your warranty.

i have a piece of paper that says 'skoda new free servicing q2&3' what is this does it mean i get free servicing??

The garage has to be VAT registered, use parts made in the EU (doesn't have to be genuine parts) and more importantly the service has to be carried out to Skoda guidelines. And seeing as the only place to get the service schedule is off the Skoda ElsaPro system you do run a chance that the service isn't carried out as per guidelines, this could have an effect on warranty claims if it's proven that something missed on the service has caused a fault.

Cant help with your location but my first service in Sussex was £ 115.

My services are free :D lol

Guess they all add up to £700 or so over the 3 years.

The cost of the interest was less than the service costs so made sense to borrow the money and get free servicing = money in bank still :)

The wife's Fabia MkII VRs had its first service at Benfield Harrogate, lub service, health check (what ever that is ) £79 all in
