millers diesel eco max

Featured Replies

Have spent the last couple of years using millers diesel eco max with tesco diesel and rate it highly. Car is a lot less smokie and seems to run better, but just wondered if it is good for the car and will it do any lasting damage over the years? just looking for peace of mind.

The manual says don't. However if you ever get your car serviced at the deals then you'll probably see on your bill that they put some in.

Its fine, its just a bit of kerosene with some other additives that are usually included at the pumps anyway.

I am using Miller Diesel Power Sport, every other tank 0.25ml, the car runs better and never smokes. It is injector cleaner so keeping the flow as it should. As the guys above have mentioned, nothing more that you can find in the BP premium diesel. It brings the cetane level up. I've been using it for years and never had any issue. When I sold my old Golf with 212 K the car was still running on original injectors, the new owner replaced them with new one but the old injectors were within factory tolerance. For £13 quid a bottle good for 20 tanks of diesel is phenomenal value.

Use it often which seems to make my car seem slightly more resposive and definately less smokey. I am running hybrid though. :)

Thanks, that is a very good advert for it. Like yourself i tend just to use 25ml to a tank full and it seems to work brilliantly and as you say is great value. What a brilliant product!

I'm a big fan of all their products and have used them for many years.

In my old Metro I used VSP plus (lead additive) and Transverse M Sport oil (specially designed for mini type engines). Our old AX used XFE oil and Diesel clean additive. Nowadays for both our Fabias we use XFE PD oil and Diesel eco max (have used Diesel Power Sport 4 before that). I normally add 50 ml per tankful (except when using V-power) and a double dose before a MOT.

My father uses the petrol Eco max and last week ordered some competition engine and gearbox oils.

Sorry to revive a bit of an old thread, I just wanted to check with other people.

Is this safe to use in every tank?

I've already contacted Millers who say it's safe to use on a car with a DPF.

I use it in every tank at double dosage :giggle: car runs sweetly on it.

No worries, just wanted to check I wasn't going to do any bad! Do you have a DPF and how long have you used it like that for?

I have e-mailed Millers just in case to ask them whether using it on a DPF equipped car every tank is okay as well.

thread revival, but if its of use, massive improvement on running especially starting on an older alh engine (non common rail)

I've used millers power sport for the last 122k miles religiously every tank and it would be interesting to so how or if it has protected the injectors from wear and kept carbon levels down in the combustion chamber.

All i know is my car goes like stink and is making just over 200bhp and 380ftlbs.

PD 130 ASZ engine.

Oh i also buy the 5 litre bottle as it works out cheaper.

I have started using this, Now on my 3rd full fill up

I Used a double dose on the first tank and on on each after.

In all honesty I cant "Feel" and difference, but the car certainly smokes less coming on boost!

Just bought some eco max sport 500ml on ebay for £10, I'll give it a whirl. Been using redex diesel additive.

Iv been using this stuff for a good while too, I haven't really noticed much apart from the car doesn't seem to smoke much at all when accelerating.

25ml per tank? 25 millilitres into 50 litres? Come on guys, be honest, do you think that's going to make a difference?

You only have to put in 25ml per tank?

I tried it out of curiosity, no noticeable difference but only 4500 miles on engine. It might clean the system on an older higher milage but the bottle just gathers dust on the shelf in the garage for now.

Definite difference, based on hard facts. Ive used redex before and no difference. One marked improvement is on my car if its above 8 degress in morning the glow plugs dont come on and it would take 8 turns (in one go of starter) to start. Now it is a single turn under same conditions, the same as when she is warm. I feel more power but this could be a placebo, however based on my starting improvements i beleive it to be fact, as well as mpg.

Do you think this many people would give the product an acolade if it was a myth?

I think placebo has a massive influence in this. People want to feel a difference because they've spent money on it. And I think they look for reassurance in others!

That said, I don't know how clever the ECU in the Fabia vrs is. If it really can "learn" (best word I can find) about how well it starts, then fair enough, but I wouldn't expect it to be able to do that.

As for keeping injectors and suchlike clean, sorry, I just don't buy that, the concentration (in my opinion) is too low.

fair enough, my alh engine loves it, no learning instant results.

Do you think this many people would give the product an acolade if it was a myth?

Yes.

Just like the people who think the same fuel sold with a different logo does wonderful/terrible things to their cars.

Octane boosters, cetane boosters, grounding kits, pivot voltage stabilisers, fuel catalysers, fuel magnets, HHO generators, N2 filled tyres.

The people selling this sort of stuff have ardent followers adamant that they work. It's been well established that a herd of people claiming results =/= results.

Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 (500ml)* £11.99

Fuel additive's claims

Increases cetane by up to four numbers

Increases power – up to 17.5% more bhp

Increases mpg by up to 7%

Reduces exhaust emissions – 70% less smoke, 20% less carbon

Treats 500 litres of diesel

Findings

Cost per treated litre of standard diesel: £1.08

Extra cost per tankful: £1.44

Cetane: up by 3.5 numbers

Power, torque and fuel economy: no significant change

We say

Millers pretty much lives up to its cetane rating claims, but it offers no power or economy benefits. Some emissions fell, but not during urban use. This contrasts with a small increase in soot, but only under motorway conditions.

Is it worth it? No.

Can't say I am suprised by their findings....

Got my Millers eco max today and just added it to the tank and filled up.

I spilled some in the kitchen and my god is it strong stuff, making me feel sick the smell and I can't get rid of it!!!
