Fabia VRS Brakes dragging

Featured Replies

I've got a problem with the brakes on my 05 reg VRS which I'm hoping someone may be able to help me with.

F/N/S brake is dragging also affects R/O/S (but not as bad)and sometimes F/O/S but only intermittantly.

Calipers etc checked and OK.

Had a problem just after I'd bought the car (about 5 years ago) and Skoda changed the servo under warranty (thakfully) which seemed to help (but I'm not convinced cured the problem) and it now seems to be getting worse.

A quick trawl on the internet throws up one or two other people with a similar sounding problem. Problems with the servo and/or master cylinder being suggested as possible reasons.

Before I bite the bullet and start changing big money items does anyone have a definitive solution?

It's driving me mad and has the garage stumped!

Alternatively does anyone want to buy a Fabia VRS with brake 'pre-heat' facility?

Any advice gratefully received......however expensive the result!

I had this problem too, :( and yes its an expensive fix. On mine the master cylinder went and also caused the servo on the front right and rear left to go, They are arranged in a X so that if a servo fails then there is still one front and one rear brake working.

The guy at the garage was also stumped until he took it out for a long test drive took it back to the garage put it up on ramps then whacked the master cylinder with a hammer and the brakes released  . It cost about a grand to fix, but thats london VAG indi prices and the parts had to be shipped from Germany!

Hope thats helps. :)

Thanks for the reply much appreciated.

I thought it would be pricey to replace servo and master cyclinder (I belive they're a swine to get to) but might have to bang in a bit more overtime first before I go to see the garage man!

Has the change of master cylinder solved the problem?

NP's

yep the problem is fixed now although I fear the other servo may be on its way out :( might be worth taking it to a good local garage as a master cylinder jobbie is fairly straight forward but difficult to get too and would be cheaper than a stealer and your car wont come back with other problems.

Great.

I hope it will solve our problem to as it's taking the enjoyment out of owning the car.

Luckily we have a very good local garage. They've looked after our cars since we moved 'up north' 12 years back so I trust them not to rip me off and to do a good job.

They may not be the cheapest in town (although not dealer prices) but if you pay peanuts......
