but

I assume it is a Bilstein Kit, the rear shocks are Bilstein, but I cannot see a make on the front struts. I had to replace one of the rear shocks, and it is about 1" longer than the other one when fully extended

Interesting point of view, don't care how the car handles as long as it looks good..lol

Good luck with that and a miss matched manky set of coil overs.

by the time you have spent out on another rear shocker your going to be at the £100 mark, may of well added another £100 and got a brand new set of JOMS

how do you know the front arent seized and set really low?

just my thoughts

I'm replacing the other shock

with what?

Chap can get me a matching bilstein shocker for me at right price

It's of a written of polo he has in

I did as for whole kit on it but from struts bend

He breaks modded cars

Seriously, if you're going to fit suspension, and therefore need alignment, just go and buy a decent set. Fitting a mix-and-match set is a bad idea, and if you then have to remove it it needs aligning again....

So you're replacing the broken shock with one from a car that has been written off?

Honestly mate, I would suggest stop trying to cut corners and just fork out the £200.00 for some JOM's from Damian@DPM Performance.

if all goes tits up ill only be £100 down anyway with alignment

and then after that ill just get some kv's

guess im the only one who thinks they were worth bidding on!

I had them in my watch list was gona bid £50 or somthing but didnt bother for insurance reasons. For £50 odd quid well worth it imo, might clean up nice and do the job spot on for a budget price. As people have said you could buy a new set for £200, but if you dont like the ride or quality of them a waste of £200!

In much the same way the op spend £53 on them then another £40 on delivery then another £? on a shock he hopes matches from a scrapped car. That's getting close to the cost of JOM new rather than some Frankenstein set-up from ebay and a scrappy of unknown quality and no come back. £200 on JOM's and a 2 year warranty please :D

Guess the killer for the deal is the delivery, would be fine for local pickup i guess.

Im thinking more to the point that you could spend £53, collect them, and fit them... thats it. You dont really need to buy another shocker only just because people are wanting a perfect ride.

Driving the car he probly wont even know the difference, i bet loads of people on the forum are driving round with one completely knackered shock and are none the wiser... or just dont care to fix it untill mot time because it doesnt bother them that much.

besides, these ones might be better quality than the cheapest eBay "buy it now" ones going.

The postage doesn't break the deal at all, those shocks have seen much better days and as the seller already points out the rears are mismatched/knackered, at the very least you want to replace both of them. By the time you've done that and taken a chance that the 'unknown' fronts are in some way better than a new matched set of JOM then you're still into them for similar money to JOM yet still have no idea what you're driving about on or what to match them with or how long before they give up and who do you turn to for parts?

JOM aren't the cheapest, you can get an unknown set for under £180 delivered or if you are on a budget just fit springs (not something i'd choose to do but each to his/her own). As to the point about shocks failing it's one thing to find a shock has failed, it's another to fit shocks that are in that state. I don't understand how someone has the money to buy a VRS, run it, tax and insure it declaring modifications to the insurance company and then decides to go Frankenstein on something like this to save a few quid then suggest he'll just buy new if it doesn't work? :giggle:

Bahahaha, yeah wack them on, dont worry about it going round corners funny and having some unpredictable handling characteristics. Great work
