To Leather Or Not?

Featured Replies

If it was an option would you get your seats retrimmed in leather?

It was never an option from the factory but I keep thinking about it so the vRS can look and feel a bit more classy inside. Something like the below with blue stitching....

Is that done by 'seat surgeons'? Looks like something they've done. They do whatever quality leather and pattern you want.

This is their website: http://www.theseatsurgeons.com/metadot/index.pl

Nothing to do with me btw

Come on bow to peer pressure.....do it :D

Absolutely! Go for it!

those leather seats look great. would you still have the airbags if u did go for them.

Go on do it - those quilted seats look ace!

I'm going leather at the end of this month (if all goes as planed with some payments).

I'm thinking simple, black with red stitching and perforated leather for the center parts of the seats almost like the interior found in the the Audi A1 Quattro.

Do you think it will be boring?

Red/black looks great on a black car. Not sure what i'd do with mine, i'd say white stitching but may look poop...

As for price, budget £1k from Seat surgeons. They havn't done a new vRS have they? May be an offer...

Go for it!

Should be a factory option in my opinion anyway.

Black with Race Blue stitching - DO IT!!!

As per the mkI VRS SE. :)

Personally, if it's an everyday car I'd want them heated if you are going for leather.

This is where the mkI fell down. They are not heated.

Won't this add extra weight to your car for Santa Pod VRS-Powered? ;)

Now they do look smart, granted the seats won't be the same but the red on black looks good.

That's the other problem I have, if I'm trying to keep weight down for a quick car it may hamper this a little.

Just shed a few pounds to make up for it :D

Does anyone know how much a front seat weighs?

Material and/or leather?

I can't see leather being that much heavier over cloth to make and sort of performance issues due to extra weight. That a good poo before giving it grief down the strip can't sort out

Can I be really boring and mention that you would probably need to tell your insurance co.....?

I have just been on the phone to mine & have had the full earole from them about mods etc etc etc....

They might give a good deal to the first person to go for it.

Id like to get some decent lightweight seats for the front of my car so that im not flying out of them on trackdays, but im reluctant to unless i can get them to matcxh the interior and rear seats, so this might be something ill try at a later date. Im not a huge fan of full leather though. Id prefer a half leather setup like in the Mk2 Octavia vRS.

Too right.

Cold mornin - Phooooooo.

Hot day - Aaaaarrrrrgggh.

Leather is so last millennium, for the crinkly old dudes in their gentlemens clubs.

If you must sit on dead skin why not go alligator. On trend and snappy.

Thats another thing. If i go for light weight seats i want them heated as well. I do like my heated seats lol
