cheers mate. what about 30-50 times? how does a remap afect these?

Don't know off hand, but you can feel the difference

Hi

Josh got some lovely figures on the Rolling Road day we had a week ago.

Try looking for the results on the Rolling Road.

He also did a good write up on the program.

Having looked at the 0-60 times from the other thread i thought that the times for both the Octys and fabia's would have been faster ! Would a remapped Fabia Vrs get close to a Ibiza Cupra 160PD ? A couple of mags have recorded 0-60 6.8 sec and 30-50 in 3rd 3 sec for the Cupra....Having owned one the standard Fabis VRS initally seems as quick to say 3000-3500 revs but after that its a different story the Fabia runs out of puff ! Must say Fabia has nicer ride though...sorry for going off topic by the way

0-60 times are improved IMO but not by much, the major differences are in gear, and a standard fabia vrs seems to have real trouble accelerating with any pace after 70-80 mph, whereas a remapped one is seamless through to 110 then it too slows to an approx top speed nearing 140 mph.

who really cares about performance after around 70mph really??

Up to 80-90 is all I care about, I wont be going past that on motorways...

I think 4th in a standard car is perhaps the most disappointing gear of all, and is the one I'd definitely hope to dramatically improve with a remap and from what Hellfire says, it sounds like it improve 4th and 5th dramatically.

Why do I think 4th is not a good gear? Well because 3rd is a short gear and offers decent acceleration, but 4th is equivalent to what 3rd would be in most petrol hot hatches and it just does not have the pace in that gear. 5th is more acceptable because it seems to accelerate not much less, but because its fifth you dont expect as much off it for some reason. If the remap dramatically improves 3rd & 4th in particular, it will make it a much nicer car to drive IMO.

I find in gear acceleration acceptable in every gear. I've only owned the car a month and a bit though.

Managed to upset an ST170 Focus on the way home the other day - was uphill though ;)

I find the performance more than adequate - got

4th is MUCH better when remapped! From 35-40mph in 4th it will throw you back in the seat! :D

5th is a nice gear for overtaking @ 50-60mph.

just been conpairing the stats of a standard furby against some big boys! even in standard it holds its own. would love to see the stats on a remapped one.

VRS 350Z Z4 S2000

0-60 8.5 6.3 6.2 6.6

30-70TG 8.1 5.9 5.9 5.9

30-503rd 3.4 3.7 3.8 4.1

50-705th 6.7 7.3 7.3 6.5

50-706th 8.3 10.3 10.2 9.7

even braking distance is not much different,

60-0 36m 34.5m 34.3m 35.1m

Definitely looks good on paper. Bit surprised about the braking test actually as I thought the 350Z had huge Brembos and can't weigh much more than a Fabia! Would be interesting to see some 70+ mph stats though :D

would be good to get these stats for a remapped one. someone get your stop watch out and give it a bash!!

Just looking at the post on the 4th gear acceleration.

I have to say that my REVO'd VRS has an awesome 4th gear - from around 40mph it pulls like a train upto just over 110!!

I think this is where the re-map really makes itself felt!!

Glad to hear it, 4th gear is the gear most in need of improvement IMO.

I can't wait to join in these conversations properly and start playing :)

Pulled away in 4th in mine the other day (boy racer behide left in a cloud of smoke  ) it pulls very very well from 40 indeed, I hit 85 before having to slow down for the lights still plenty of pull to go.

Go on paul you know you want to REVO it :D

My experience has been limited, but my standard fabia is never too far away from my mates REVO'd fabia, that managed 182hp and 307lb/ft. The chipped car is faster indeed, but on road the gears are too short to take full advantage of the power, and thus don't seem much quicker than a stock car. However it is when you start comparing them to other cars, and i have found i have an ability to irritate those with the same torque @ wheels / tonne through the midrange....

This means some much bigger players have felt the wrath of the Furby power - lol.

HOWEVER. I am going to croft a week on Saturday, so i will rely my thoughts on the performance thereafter, as i might be left standing by every other VAG motorist there !

I agree with the above to an extent, prehaps before I remapped my car I hadnt honed all of it's potential, but it certainly is much quicker now to a 100, probably not much more to 60 due to wheel spin. A did a VERY quick comparison on the way to Jabba with 1 passenger and the same on the way back and it took approximately 21 seconds to hit 100 mph when standard and I have a video of it doing a 0-90 run in 15 seconds when remapped which, add a few seconds to get to a ton and I reckon it's 5 seconds quicker, the main difference you will notice is that the power doesnt tail off, and you get a seemless transition between 2,200 rpm and 3,800 where my peak bhp is.
