Wouldn't mind if Webber won - he's more down to earth than the other one if you ask me. More personable and less like Schumi who I think he's a clone of really.

  • I think Maldonado should be in trouble for that move on Hamilton. I know Hamilton squeezed him but Maldonado was off the track and should yield. However, knowing the biased marshalls, they'll do Hami

Well, Valencia in exciting race shocker! Alonso does it again, give him a sniff of a win and he's unstoppable! Good progress by Ferrari. Gutted for Hamilton :( McLaren need some urgent work on the

Agree with all of that. With regard to force india, I think thats what Di Resta was getting at after the race, he admitted his mistake in Q3 but they messed up the strategy big time this race. Paul wa

It's the turn of Ferrari today with the F138 - 1030 CET

New Ferrari launched with two tone paint, not many secrets given away, bodywork and aero has been significantly redesigned.

New Force India also launched, although appeared to be in the back of their factory warehouse!

Noticeable that only Paul di Resta present - 2013 car development started mid way through 2012, when they gave up on the previous car! With such limited scope for innovation, with the narrow regulation changes, Force India have redesigned everything to the max. They will focus on getting the maximum performance out of the new Pirelli tyres during testing.

Force India also but only Paul deresta as a lone driver. ? Who will get the other ? I think it may be a lady :)

There are no women drivers available - only Susie Wolff at Williams but unlikey to get a full drive. My money is on GP2 driver Jules Bianchi for them.

Van der Garde has just literally just confirmed he's going to Caterham, and I reckon Luiz Razia, another GP2 driver, is off to Marussia.

Mmmm agree but whoever they are they'll need too, bring plenty of greenbacks

Yes it looks like jules bianchi will be the driver , or Sunil too come back?

The Ferrari and Force India I can get some interest in, because there are aero changes from last yeat that I can see. Gary Anderson struggled to pick out changes in some parts of the Enstone.

So, the 'new' Red Bull launched today. I don't think their new one will be at the first test either. Car looks pretty unremarkably different from the 2012 car, as do others, but the Red Bull more so.

Been talk that they threw too much into 2012 and are behind slightly for 2013. Not sure on the truth to this, teams play many mind games :p.

Teams always sand bag. These reveals are a waste of time. They should all reveal at the test in Jerez and watch the media scrum to get pics and info

In the context of the last 2 posts, doesn't the first test start tomorrow (5/2/13)?

yes ken :)

Yeah they do. Williams and presumably whoever is left will reveal there too. They concentrate so hard in hiding what the car is doing to competitors it's almost pointless having a reveal unless it's just to show off some new paint and sidepods. Out of all of them the Sauber looks fantastic as does the Lotus. Lots of new bits and look like they've tried harder than the others. Hope both are fast

Williams won't be at Jerez, they won't reveal until Catalunya on 19th Feb. Red Bull did their's yesterday, Merc and Torro Rosso today - Caterham and Marussia are tommorrow.

Pre season testing is pretty much pointless to the outsider as, like Martyn says, so many teams sand bag so as not to give away their performance position. It's more about testing systems and ensuring that any developments can be tested.

The new RB9 below, which is pretty much an evolution of the RB8.

Time for a 2013 thread? Or wait until the 1st race?

RB8 vs RB9, IMO, even 'Evolution' is too strong a word for it :giggle: .

Rest of launched so far are looking pretty good, especially the Sauber. Ofcourse looks =/= performance.

Time for a 2013 thread? Or wait until the 1st race?

Let's wait til first race - or once the new prediction league is ready.

Once open I'll start a new thread

So first day of testing in Jerez:

The new Merc caught fire, McLaren have had fuel pump reliability problem again and Max Chilton seems to be going well in the Marussia.

So does the flying frenchman when theres no other cars on the track :giggle:

Problems with Hamilton's Merc today - he obviously thought it wasn't that good so stoved it into a gravel trap!!

:D

One of his rear brakes lost pressure so only had front brakes. He said the only positive was that he was still alive. At least it only happened in testing

Caught on Twitter earlier but not followed much today as I've been in meetings and travelling.

anything else to note today?

I've been busy most of the day too so missed quite a bit. Still catching up

Getting excited now, not too long to go.

Williams using the old car is a bit strange? You`d think they want as much time in the new one as possible. Grosjean looks quick, but then we have know he is quick all last year he just needs to avoid the incidents. If he can get clean races under his belt I think he`ll do well. I took am in the anyone but Vettel camp this year. I`d love to see Button do it but any of the decent drivers. Webber in particular would be hilarious, not only is he so up front and honest in his words, but he also would put Vettels nose right out of joint! In reality, I think it`ll be between the usual suspects, RBR, Mclaren & Ferrari. It would be nice to see Lotus on form and up there, I think Raikkonen has the skills still, so if they give him the car no reason why he couldnt do the job. Di Resta is another I`d like to see do well, very odd that FI still haven't announced a second driver, I was hoping it`d be someone half decent to assist the development of the car, Heikki would have been great but sadly it`ll end up a paid driver by the looks of it.

As for the cars, I like the look of the Sauber strangely.

my order of people I'd like to win the title

1. Webber. thoughrly nice bloke, deservs some luck for once, would stick it in Helmut's (and vettles) face :)

2. Button. nice bloke. give him a balanced car, the way he likes it, and he'll walk it!

3. Riakonnen. I just like the thought of lotus handing it to the big guns :) plus, he's a bloody good driver.

4. Massa. go on lad, show alsonso how its done ;) (Most unlikely, but would be a nice story)
