  • I think Maldonado should be in trouble for that move on Hamilton. I know Hamilton squeezed him but Maldonado was off the track and should yield. However, knowing the biased marshalls, they'll do Hami

Well, Valencia in exciting race shocker! Alonso does it again, give him a sniff of a win and he's unstoppable! Good progress by Ferrari. Gutted for Hamilton :( McLaren need some urgent work on the

Agree with all of that. With regard to force india, I think thats what Di Resta was getting at after the race, he admitted his mistake in Q3 but they messed up the strategy big time this race. Paul wa

At least you get a lay in

I wake up at 6.10 every day, body clock tells me. Would rather be up live for it , they can hear you when you scream encouragement at the TV you know !

^^ Funny that, my 10 yr old son kept nagging me the other day about the same idea, why drivers cannot change the cars over once in a while or do grid penalty system as in BTCC?

The starting line up for the next race should be the reverse finishing order of the previous race. Forces people with faster cars to fight through the grid and should make things closer and more exciting. This year is pretty good though but the japanese GP yesterday was a bit dull a vettel and massa just ran away with it. Not usually saying that about massa tbh but is was pretty boring. Qualifying is good to watch but having the fastest cars at the front generally means that you are eliminating the majority of overtaking before you have even started.

I didn't stopwatch it, but I reckon that Seb and Filipe got less than 2 mins between them between laps 3? (after the pace car came in) and 53, and most of that was their wheel changes.

Forza Kamui!!! :-D

All that'll happen is the faster drivers wont try so they end up at the front of a reversed field.

Or you'll have people like Plato racing from near the back to the front to win.

All that'll happen is the faster drivers wont try so they end up at the front of a reversed field.

Then they wont get as much points then will they. If you win one week your at back of grid at next race. Simples.

Or even better example would be Jenson racing from the back in Canada in the wet to beat Fingers.

^ That was a superb drive, especially when Fingers almost took him out !

That would be awesome to see, but I doubt Bernie would be up for that

Was it not the same Bernie who once suggested they should put sprinklers on the track to "liven" things up a bit! He'd do anything if it meant more revenue

Vettel to Ferrari then.

http://www.telegraph...ri-in-2014.html

I doubt it will happen. I was wrong about Hamilton though. Vettel will win the championship again this year so why leave to go to a weaker team? I think Ferrari will keep Masa as his last few races have been strong in fact he would have beaten Alonso at the weekend if he was allowed.

Problem with Massa is his lack of consistency. Nobody doubts he can be quick.

I'd agree that pairing Alonso and Vettel would be a disaster, there is absolutely no logic in this other than having the best drivers for Ferrari so nobody else can have them - Drivers and Manufacturers Trophies guaranteed. If Alonso could lead the championship for most of the year with to be frank a dog of a car...

Horner is insiting as Vettel has a contract with Red Bull for 2014. The reason for speculations is the rumoured exit clauses allowing Seb to jump ships should he wished to. I am sure old Dietrich will open his checque book wide come the end of next season :)

More exciting is the thought of Hulkenberg and Gutieres at Sauber. Gutieres is a class act and will shake a few feathers. Hulkenberg is another star in the making and 'a bloody good bloke'.

You heard it here first!

Still think Alonso will somehow win the championship. I hope that he manages to take it down to the wire.

I wish it was possible for Alonso to do that but my gut feeling tells me that the development momentum is now i RB's favour and we just watched the last interesting race of the season. Curtains on the championships, both of them.

Lewis certainly won't win driving like he did last week and I can't understand him leaving for MB for an under developed car - it has to be the money he's going for. I think I read somewhere on the interweb that McLaren offered him to sign him for less money which nobody with an ounce of sense is going to do, are they ?

I think Lewis is looking long term, when the new engines(1.6 Turbo V6) come next year Mercedes will probably have the more developed engine out there http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/19941541

As I mentioned in another thread somewhere, I don't think the new engine regs are going to come in, I think they'll be dropped.

Only Mercedes, Renault and Ferrari have started development on the new turbo'd engines for 2014 - Cosworth has gone quiet about it's plans and PURE has suspended it's operations. Ferrari started dyno testing their 2014 engine last month. However many of the teams are thought to be nervous about the changes especially the thought of any potential cost increases in developing the new engines and don't want to return to the heady days when costs spirralled out of control. Although they are likely to be approx 30% cheaper, it is the developoment costs which are of concern. Both Christain Horner and Monisha Kaltenborn (Sauber) have openly voiced their concerns. Martin Whitmarsh says that introducing them will be "a big challenge", whereas little Bernie wants them scrapped!

If the issue of costs isn't sorted then I can't see the new engines coming in at all and the F1 circus will remain with V8s - that may also scupper any plans by Mercedes to develop a "super new car" for Lewis. However it could just be the initial backlash in the same way that KERS suffered a backlash on it's introduction, whereas it's now just part and parcel of the paddock.

The teams are meeting in Paris on 23rd October to discuss the latest "Concorde Agreement" which now runs until 2020 rather than the previous 4 yearly intervals, The teams are seeking to gain clarification on a number of points including resource restrictions, perhaps the new engine regulations will also be discussed.

Which means that the development costs could be written down over at least 6 years, and quite possibly 3 or 4 teams per engine supplier.

Renault have also said if it costs too much they`ll pull out. I can seriously see this being dropped or delayed. Still, lewis wanted the challenge, it`ll certainly be that either way.
