Yeti Rubber Door Seals

Featured Replies

Had spooky for a day now---obviously I've been cleaning her this morning

An issue for the ongoing maintenance is the amount of rubber seals around the door thresholds--both on the door and the body--looks like you could float with that lot!

In particular the seal which I noticed, is the one on the body, for the rear doors, which actually forms part of the rear wheel arch. This looks a bit vulnerable to me.

Has anyone had any problems with this being damaged

I did buy one of the VW rubber conditioning solutions so I have given all the seals a bit of that, so I'm hoping that will help to protect them.

Thats why when you close the doors they sound "just like a Golf"

Had my Yeti nearly 2 years, no damage to the rubber seals at all.

But I do give them a coat of Gummi Pflege when I give her a good wash.

Have given all the door seals a polish with Autoglym silicone free spray.Did notice the rear door seal you mentioned but seems to be no problem with mine yet.

I believe there's been only one or two mentions of issues with this seal, due to them coming away; they are only push fit mind. The seal was updated last April with a revised part number but I have no information as to why. Mine may have them as she was built around the time of introduction, if so I cannot see any difference from the original. Best advise is to give the seal a good clean and rubber treatment when you wash it and remove any corresponding dirt off the inner edge of the door.

Have had issues myself with the main door seals creaking but that was mainly with the first Monster; sadly she was not the best put together example. Still get a bit of this with the current ones drivers door when cold and say moving of an incline to the flat causing a little flex in the chassis.

Hi Tim

My doors all started doing the creaky bit when like yours it moved from an angle to the flat mostly going in or out off my drive, and it was getting really bad so when I cleaned and polished it the other weekend I polished all the inner door painted areas, then applied the Autoglym vinyl and rubber care to all the seals. And they are perfect now not a sound from them, will see how long it lasts.

Thanks Kevin,

really do need to get down to giving the poor Monster a propper clean; not had a bath never mind a 'shampoo & set' in some while :giggle: been leaving it to nature of late :rain:

  • 2 months later...

Had my Elegance for 8 weeks - it's been back to my dealer 3 times for various creaks and rattles and as I,m writing this the dealer has it. Skoda have instructed the dealer to replace all the door and windows seals since the expensive lubricating on previous visits lasted but a couple of days! Hoping this solves the "chinese torture!"

My March 2012 Yeti has developed a slight creaky door syndrome when cold and I start off at low speeds reversing at an angle out of my drive; I can also reproduce the creak by pushing on the top of the doors from the outside. I have ordered some Gummi Pflege and hopefully that will cure the problem. The creak seems much less evident in wet weather - so quiet at the moment!

You should be alright for the rest of the summer, then!!

I am one of the owners who has replaced one of these , i think i dislodged it while cleaning one time and then it fell off it was only about £7 from tps my skoda parts people and takes about 5 mins to fix back on it has a small strip of double sided tape on the lower edge. I have had no issues since that one with them as i now wipe them gently while cleaning and every 2-3 months spray them up with silicone spray to keep them flexible and creak free.
