RC Cars

Not content with modifying road cars I've been messing around with radio control cars for 23 years (makes me feel old) Here's my current nitro and electric cars.

Still waiting for my son(now 4) to grow up so I can buy him a decent RC car.

Used to dabble with Tamiya Hornet and Wild One many many years ago - thinking of getting back into it again. Thinking of getting the FTX Edge: Brushless 2WD

I used to race 1/8 rally cross a few years back! Was great fun!

My first car was a Tamiya Hornet  would like to convert my drift car to brushless.

i wanted the grasshopper as a kid, but i also wanted the hornet & the bigwig, a mate of mine had the bigbear & vannesas lunchbox, ive got a tamiya drift subaru & a petrol car but i cant think what its called, my brother has a carsson lawados,

its an hpi rs4 nitro with an m3 shell,

I would love to have a go with a drift car.

I have in a bag under my bed one of these: Tamiya Madcap I got it 20 years ago, but not used to for about 15 years, One of these days I'll get it back out.

I fully ball raced it, (was plain bearings), bought different tyres all round (Tamiya oval block), plus a pair of Schumacher soft spikes, new rear wheel wheels. changed the timer charger to a peak detection one. A pair of matched Sanyo 1700 mAh SCRC batteries, (the highest capacity you could buy at that time. A new wing and a new tub chassis as I broke them.

I can remember reading magazines (RRCI) and drooling over the Tenth Technology Predator when it first came out in 1994. It had a carbon fibre tub chassis, carbon prop shaft, very clever push-rod suspension (just like an F1 car), and true aerofoil shaped front and rear wings.

I never saw one running, only in our local model shop.

I've got a HPI evo 3 Nitro Impreza. Its not been run for a few years. I have fuek leaking from the top of the heatsink too. Needs a service but its expensive!! One day I will have it running again!

Twin detonator and m03 mini is all I have left after I sold a load a while ago.

Modded lunchbox on m03L chassis

My old egress that I used to race. Restored it and then someone offered me £350 for it, hard to refuse.

Clod buster, original 80s one with Chevvy badges (were deleted at Tamiya didn't have permission to use them)

Iv got a tamiya nitro force......built by myself, so needless to say its rather unreliable :(

Just a hobby really so dont race them competitively but love them none the less! I currently have

1/8 scaleThunder tiger EB4 S2 with a .21 nitro engine in

I also have the same car with a .28 nitro engine in but no pics as its in the shed.

I also have an FG Marder (1/5th scale) petrol car with a 33cc tuned engine in, and it goes like stink!

Since the pics were taken its had hydraulic brakes to replace the cable brakes.

My first "proper" RC car was also a Hornet, wish I still had it.

Brushless is getting pretty cheap now. Search around for Hobbywing ESCs and motors.

I would love to have a go with a drift car.

If you ever get the chance, do it. They're not easy to master, but they are great fun.

I compete in the D1RC Drift Series, anyone who has read RRCi in the last 2 and a bit years may have seen it in there, and possibly me.

Currently running a Schumacher MI3.5 Pro (10th touring chassis) with a Novak Ballistic 10.5t brushless motor and Hobbywing Xtreme Stock ESC with Turbo function.

We should have a briskoda national meet sometime and all bring something RC related to blast round a carpark!

I had one of those , they were a cracking car but cost me a fortune to buy and develop it further
