Stream MP3 Aux In Retro fit

Featured Replies

There are posts here suggesting it could done but others have tried and failed. To be honest for the cost of a second hand Stream mp3 on eBay, it is probably just easier to go down that route.

ok!..

...but its even cheaper to buy a cover for a 2din and put in my Pioneer Avic DH3.. ;)

thanks for quick reply!!

Is this the part from Skodateille that is the plug and play Stream MP3 cable?

Also does anybody have a reference on know how to word a query in eBay to find the eBay version.

  • 3 weeks later...

A few observations from fitting the skodateile kit above:

  • To order, email THIS address (the 'shop' one on their site doesn't work) - [email protected] - they are currently working on a new site (http://skoda.edgering.org) - the bit you want is called "O2-269 AUX zdířka"
  • Cost was 33 EURO inc VAT & P&P
  • My car is a 2006 vRS, which originally had the basic STREAM radio. I bought a STREAM MP3 off EBay
  • Having fitted it, I noticed today just as I was about to fit my cable, that the CD boot changer sound was weird and tinny, although the radio/slot cd changer sound was fine(more on the cure in a second)
  • I started off using the pins picture at the top which solved both my problems (fitting aux in and solving bootchanger issue)
  • The skodateile kit comes with a green, yellow and brown wire pre-mounted in a black block inside blue connector. Remove the black block from blue connector by pushing down on the tab and sliding it out
  • Make a note of where each wire is as you are going to transfer these to the same location on the new block (and the orientation of the block)
  • Using a small pick in through the top and bottom of the black block you can free the spade connectors for each wire, a gentle tug should free them
  • Now put the wires into the block pictured at the top in the same orientation as you removed them. I found I had a black wire where the brown cable should go in the harness blue connector - move the black cable one to the right (CD earth in the diagram, which is upside down compared to the actual unit - this will restore CD changer sound)
  • To summarise (look at the pin diagram on page one of this thread) - new wires from new harness - green and yellow go to Aux L/R in the same place as you removed them from the kit, with the brown brown to aux earth. Existing harness - use a pick to remove the black wire which may be in aux earth socket, and move across one to the right to CD earth
  • Re-assemble black block into blue connector, put this back into large grey connector and re-insert in back of radio
  • I then removed the (1&2 in diagram) front ashtray and lifted the gear gaiter to run the cable under there - diagrams HERE>http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/85640-how-do-i-remove-centre-console/
  • Having removed the passenger side front trim panel (16,17 - screw in depths of passenger footwell and another recessed behind the front ashtray hole, I ran the cable up under the carpet down the passenger side of the centre console
  • With the rear ashtray, vents and surround removed (9,10,11,12,13), I threaded the cable into this void and then up to the bottom of the aux socket (you DO NOT need to remove the whole centre console!!)
  • I put the socket in the driver's side forward upper part of the jumbo box as I could still reach this (although it was tricky) as I wasn't convinced the supplied aux socket would fit on the rearmost tray

Pics below:

3 wires from Skodateile cable connector block (gently remove them)

Insert them into the same place (empty holes on the left side) on the car loom block - I had to move the black wire (cd earth) one to the right, which cured boot CD player tinny sound so I could put brown wire there. The spade connectors should click into place in their new holes in the car loom

hi can someone just clarify that if i buy a stream mp3 there is a cavle that plugs in the back of the hu for an aux port and that theres no need to solder or cut anywires and that a stream mp3 headunit will work in my 05 octavia

Not quite, as per my post above, the skodateile cable comes with only 3 wires attached to a separate loom/block, these need to be gently freed from the connector block and plugged into their respective holes (in the same place as you removed them) on the existing car loom blue connector in the back of the radio, which looks the same (you may have to move the black wire as shown in my pics above, no cutting or soldering required but you will need a pick/toothpick/cocktail stick to do this

This is the cable you want: http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=269&menu=%C5%A0koda|Octavia%20II(A5)&img_b=IMG_0336_1.JPG

You also want one of these: Stereo Right Angled Male Jack to Straight Male Jack Cable 3.5mm Black

What radio have you got in yours? I had a basic STREAM in my 06 Octy before I upgraded, if you have the same I would therefore expect it to be ok on an 05 model...

Hi i have a stream mp3 in my vrs and no aux socket can you tell me the part no so i can get one from my local tps ,

  • 4 weeks later...

Just follow the links in my post - you can't get it from Skoda UK...

  • 1 month later...

Built my aux port today and fitted it. Have sunk the maplins six socket into the middle spare button, and just have to glue it in place.

Managed to do the wiring for free, just needed the 3.5mm socket (£1.25).

Would be happy to make up some more (with instructions) and supply them as a push fit option.

Only issue is getting hold of the button blanks. Would anyone happen to know where I can get the part no.?

It should be stamped on the back.

Doh... quite right you are.

Here is my efforts...

IMAG0856_zpsxqpdz9ig.jpg

Going to swap the USB port with the ASR switch so that I can more cleanly fit a Bluetooth hands-free kit.

That an possibly wrap the stereo fascia in a matching silver to the door and fascia trims.

Having costed up new parts (rather than leftovers from previous projects) if anyone wanted a copy (plug and play) I could do them for a fair bit less than the skodateille option (new parts rather than my leftover parts assembly)... meaning all you would need to do is clip the three cables into the CD changer socket and replace a blank switch with the new one.

Hello guys!

I also have the Stream mp3 in a 2006 Octavia. Could someone please send me a link from ebay or preferably aliexpress with the correct article? I checked all the links in this topic, but they are dead...

I would prefer the version with no soldering. Thanks!
