Ah I get what you mean, i think. I have mullered an impreza, not the new hatch but the Ine before. He was really not happy. Had a white van man being a tw*t and trying to undertake me on a merging road and forcing me into the other side of the road. Thank god for sport mode and pulled away, no great achievement but could have prevented an accident.

Haven't had many people try and take me on to be fair.

Ha ha bless him I have always said buy a car magazine and know what your up against!!!!

It must be good with that power but I have just read about the gtr and 0 60 in 2.8!!!!!! That is quick!!!!!! Must be a great feeling to do it too 60 of course!!!

My guess is up to 60 the GTR Boss Foxs GTR hasn't been beaten

A bike must have tried???!!?!?

No cars yet but a white van the other day when merging onto a road from 3 lanes to 2, i was in the outside 3rd lane right next to him, he sped up to cut me off so did I and managed to get in front of him - just (almost ran out of road) 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other i could have let him in and he could have let me in. No harm done but him and his mate weren't too happy, not that I'm going to lose any sleep over it.

Funnily enough my Octy seemed to attract more racers than my new one but time will tell.

I have to agree and repeat what I have previously said,,,,

This is an excellent forum and we are lucky to have guys with excellent cars who share their views and opinions,, s4 gtr etc,,,,

How you finding your s4 then gents???

Andy

Andy,

I'm loving it, there are loads of great cars about but this one ticks all of my boxes at present. My next dilemma will be when my son starts to drive next year, luckily we have a scheme through work where you can buy a car through them and everything is included (except for fuel) and for under 21 year olds it costs an extra £250 for their insurance. My mates have bought new fiestas for their kids to use and the monthly costs is less than the average insurance cost for young drivers nowadays.

May go for a small engined ford but also quite like the SEAT ibiza.

Does it have an exhaust option like the TT-RS with a button and a flap to make it more throaty?

No, no button but it could well be similar as it seems to change when going from Drive to Sport.

Not yet.

Most petrolheads know the car and a lot of people watch Top Gear, so in seven months I've only had a couple of bikes and two Porsches try. The latter were funny, I think their girlfriends were unimpressed by the flash Porsche against the fat Nissan.

But it's a little too easy when the car does it for you. Even though it's impressive.

You know that it'll do 0-100 (on a track of course) in around 6.5 seconds time after time, as long as you press the loud pedal and just hold on.

I guess that is part of the problem with the GT-R, it's so quick and so well designed to do the job of killing other cars that they couldn't leave too much for the driver to do in case they weren't up to the standard of the car.

Which unless you are a proffessional racing driver you are not.

I did three and a half days at Millbrooke and Bruntingthorpe with an ex-Nissan test driver and trainer and the car still leaves me way behind.

Driven quickly on a country lane it bends the laws of physics and scrambles your brain. (in a good way)

I respect it like no car I've owned. But you are aware it's the alpha male in the relationship. :D

Well done longdog

Thats an excellent scheme and nice to work for a company who are family friendly and in your case more than that,,,

I am not surprised with the attitude from other road users,,, it's a lovely car to drive and look at but know that a press on the right pedal you have power!!!

You must be happy though foxy???

I live near middlehurst and see them all the time and you have to admire the quality of the car, a fantastic achievement in motoring history!

I would love to have been a fly in the 911!!!! Why don,t people buy a 2 pound magazine and see what yours can do compared to others!!!

We have also talked about general security but I have to ask how much it costs for 24 hour SAS security!!!

Andy

Yes, happy I've had it and had the experience. At times it's been amazing.

But speed is not the same as fun. And as I mentioned earlier the ownership experience and backup by Nissan is not very good at all. Skoda really could teach them a lot.

It will scramble your brain, but in terms of actual balance and control I had more fun in my Fabia on semi-slicks trying to do fast laps at Bedford in the rain and spending half the time going sideways. I was the one in control and when it went well it was because I did it.

I'm sure for some people the GT-R is the best.

But the ability to kill anything anytime without doing much yourself kind of wore off for me after about four or five months. During this time I was convinced it was the best car ever.

I seem to prefer a slower (manual) car where you are actually keeping the thing on the edge of traction and the car's ability.

Security has never been an issue.

Oddly the GT-R seems to command respect from petrolheads that a 911 or flash supercar doesn't, so it gets left alone where you park it.

It surprised me in the GTROC just how many get left on the street.

A phrase that springs to mind is "working class hero", which is what a fast Nissan is really. You don't buy one to say "I've got a Porsche" and impress people. You just buy it to go faster than nearly everyone else.

So the people that want a flash car for showing off generally buy the more expensive sports cars with more brand awareness in the general public.

It'll be interesting to see how Nick gets on with the S4, as it's less compromised.

Because 5,500 miles down the line with my Yeti I have to say it's the best car I've ever had in terms of all round ability and versatility... I must be getting old. ;)

You make some interesting points regards to the GTR.

As longdog said the S4 is the perfect all rounder, especially for my family of 3. I don't know how it compares to other cars on the road but it certainly is quick and is a very capable cruiser at the same time. I'd be interested to drive the new RS4 to see how they compare.

I've recently started to explore the car as approaching 1000 miles now and the most impressive thing is the power delivery low down. No loss of traction whatsoever.

Thats a very well written blog foxy!!

You have certainly told us how it is and in a manner that is not over the top, you are very honest in your true evaluation of, lets not mess about, an excellent car one of the best!!!

I have spoken to a few people, Marco recently, who comment about the far easts ability to produce such excellent cars, but not driver friendly or defiantly no fun!!!!

It's a shame really, and has certainly opened my eyes!!!! Thank you,,,, in a nice way!!

You must be made up Nicky!!! Every time you go out!!! You must be due to the amount of miles you have done,, think mine is just over 600 !!! Going strong!!!

I like the fact of low down pull,,, I have to say that is what I am missing,,,

I have discussed about a shark and I am interested to hear they do a blue fin type,,,

Any way going off topic,,,, great to hear your stories guys,, thank you

I really am made up.

I had shark Stage 1 on my car as me and another member organised a group buy in which we got a discount. The initial stage 1 map had flat spots so I had to travel to shark to get it sorted.

I then got sent an update to the map which had loads more torque but again there was flat spots all over the rev range. The extra power was amazing so just dealt with it.

In hindsight I wouldn't go to stage 1 until the handling was improved as torque steer was a real issue as was traction. It made the car unusable in certain situations (wet). Even on dry days I had lack of traction in third. It really annoyed me in the end such that I just went back to stock. Not as much power but at least at 200bhp the car could handle it. It just felt better to drive overall.

My advice would be to do handling at the same time and also look into revo. Lots of people on here are happy with shark, I am in the minority of being not 100% satisfied really.

Thats a very well written blog foxy!!

Thanks.

I tend to be of the opinion that you can't really say how a car is to live with until you've had it for a reasonable amount of time.

You buy something that you desire or that suits you, so there is always going to be a "honeymoon" period when you are less likely to be critical or accept that it was not what you thought.

Very true. I am definitely in the honeymoon period and I just hope that I still love this time next year. One thing on my side is that I know I can't afford anything better at the moment. I also know my pay can't keep going up like it has especially in my line of work.

To be fair I still loved the octavia after a year, if I hadn't have got the unexpected pay increase that I did I would still be the proud owner of the octavia.

I just hope I don't get that sinking feeling of 'what have I done buying this car?'.

RESULT

Car insurance quote was £1240 two weeks ago, £1158 last week and £934 this week. Winning!

Looks like il be purchasing it next week for £934 unless it goes down again.

Other odd thing. £17k vrs at stage 1 cost £1350, S4 at £43k and 100bhp more roughly, costs £934. Can a year make that much difference?! Either way I'm over the moon.

Well done Nicky good result for you goes to show you need to shop around

Think it's 500 for my vrs,,, I remember as a young lad gettin insurance for my 172 cup, it was 1700!!!! I nearly died!!!

I said more older, and more wiser no way to pay that!!

Glad your getting a good run in your s4,,, are you still happy?

Hi, new to the topic. Nice car, what line of work are you in btw? May look at a career change  . Just had my new VRS remaped too. Looked at shark and the price! But went with local mapper in the end. Very happy so far, smooth, no flat spots, time will tell as I'm very cautious with things like that. Just quoted £575 insurance through greenlight with map declared, im 25 so I'm wondering if it still is a magic number like it once was.

Yes mate. Just took it for its first proper thrash. I've just got to be careful as I don't want to lose that licence. The speed reminder thing is a great saviour when you're pushing on. The 0-60 seemed pretty quick, I'd like to time it. The cornering was fairly impressive also and that was with traction off.

You loving the remap then?
