Audi R8 v Octavia 1.4 tsi

Featured Replies

I hope this is not against the rules or anything, but check this out. (this is linked to my "alloys are less safe" thread)

I dont understand what this has to do with alloys being less safe :wonder:

An Audi R8 V10 vs. a Skoda Octavia 1.4TSI...where is the comparison?

500 bhp vs. 120 bhp in the wet?

A couple of equivalent skoda's of the same power, one with alloys and one with steels surely is a fair comparison.

I would also like to bet that lap times would be no different at all under those test conditions.

Silly stuff. At least he should of got a 4x4 octavia and it would be be faster than R8 and shave 2 sec more.

+1

don't see the relevance of this at all? Vid just goes to show that massive power is of little benefit when there is very low grip - same is easily visible when you get monsoon conditions in a grand prix - the race cars struggle sometimes to keep up with the safety car. Its got nothing at all to do with the material the wheel is made from.

They probably just wanted a reason to take the Audi out on a wet handling circuit !!

I don't think you need a reason :)

I've got an old alfa 75 which is about 130 bhp - skinny steel wheels - great at drifting at oulton parks low grip circuit :) bit cheaper than an R8 but nearly as good fun ( well sort of !)

The R8 would get you far more bitches.

The R8 would get you far more bitches.

Ones enough?!

Skoda been slipping Autocar wads of cash again??

Why is the guy wearing a helmet then when it cuts to an in car shot he isnt wearing a helmet??

Ones enough?!

I see your point... many R8's will get you many bitches? Gotta have a coupe and a spyder at least ;)

Ones enough?!

ones more than enough :whew:

After I accidently wiped all the contacts from swmbo's iPhone, one is FAR to many............. :x

Accidently? ;)

So to summarise the entire "alloy wheel" thing.

If you have two tyres of the same brand, tread pattern and compound, the wider one will aquaplane first in the wet. In the dry, the wider one has more grip.

That's it :S
