Sell fbia vrs...... But another....

Featured Replies

My vrs is getting on abit now for my liking, so thinking of changing it :/, love it to bits but isit worth getting another one? Hmmmm what does everyone think?

what's "getting on a bit?"

my red one is on 118k and on a 54 plate and gettign rid is the last thing on my mind.

Are you another person jumping on the "my car must be about to explode" band wagon?

Old, done lots of miles?

ahhh so your car has already exploded :D

on the "is it worth buying another line" though - yes of course but it'll depend on the specific car you buy.

I've just bought a second vrs but i waited it out, hunted hard and eventually spent more than i intended (although still an absolute steal) and bought a car with majorly low mileage.

That said in a few thousands miles time it could turn out to be a lemon and die

Every car is different but i guess in the end you have to weigh up the costs of puchasing a new car against the costs of maintaining your current one!

Amen to that.

I'm just paranoid that things are guna go and can't afford to replace them, and the car wouldnt be worth much if the clutch n turbo go but Looking at the replies, I'm reconsidering, it's 56 on 47,000 but if the turbo and clutch are on their way if rather flog it and get another one, would deffo be the blue limited edition one,

Clutch & turbo isn't going to be massively expensive, what's the point in selling it, out laying more cash on a new one for it to possibly be the same? At least if you fix it you know it's good for another 100,000 miles.

That's very true, cheers mate. Just me being a pain in the bum lol,

Also, my tuppence worth - yours is a 56, leaving only 07s newer (including SEs). Your mileage is average and as I'm findimg, they're like hen's teeth! Maybe spend what you think the difference between yours and an SE price on repairs and/or improvements.

Im doing exactly the same mine is on 90k and the clutch has just starting slipin with remap n turbo is stickin slightly but its better fixin ur problems then buyin anotha car that may have worse problems that u dont see at first

Mine had turbo replaced at about 100 k 2 years ago and clutch 1 year ago at about 118k cars nearing 150k now and is a 2003 plate. Replace the turbo with a garret unit and change the dual mass flywheel to a single unit then you only need to change the clutch plates in future and hopefully not the whole unit :)

My 04 plate is at 170k on original clutch, turbo, battery and exhaust and is in far better mechanical nick than the wife's 56 plate which is on 40k. Mine has been a motorway queen since 30k miles when we bought it hence i'd sooner have a motorway queen on 100k than a town machine which has done 40k :D

150k+ heavily modified and I've replaced more or less everything and i'll keep doing it til it dies :giggle:
