Featured Replies

Where's best to get pads for my vrs and what are the best recommendation :) ?

Iv got Mintex ones they do very well, fade abit after some decent heavy use, but pretty good all round only cost me 20 plus vat

ds2500 ferodo are the bomb but cost a pretty penny

i'd go for mintex unless your thinking of tracking your car alot

I was looking at green stuff but there expensive where did you buy mintex from matey

mintex are just standard replacement from any motor factors.

green stuff are poor mate.

My local rally part/ motor parts stockist,( bald auto parts in Carmarthen) he said they weren't standard but weren't competition, I find them pretty good,

There's two grades of Mintex pads, standard and performance :)

DS2500

That is all

DS2500 aren't technically road legal because they over perform too far out of oe range when up to temp, they aren't so great at first application when cold eg when it's peeing it down on a Monday morning and the car in front slams on the anchors at the end of the street.

Correct

they aren't so great at first application when cold eg when it's peeing it down on a Monday morning and the car in front slams on the anchors at the end of the street.

I've never experienced a problem on a Monday morning TBH, but then I don't work Mondays..... and if the car infront "slams on the anchors" at the end of the street and this causes you problems whose fault is that?

I've never had a problem on Fridays, they're usually good days :D

Joking aside the initial bite from cold isn't as good as oe on other cars i've had them on, though when they're up to temp nothing i've driven with compares to them. Based on this I don't fit them to my daily drivers, whatever day of the week it is if you need to perform an emergency stop in cold/wet conditions on a cold set of pads then DS2500 wouldn't be my first choice but as i've not had them on in a while (and never on a furby) perhaps they've improved the compound?

green stuff are poor mate.

Agreed, avoid the green stuff pads a search of here will reveal a number of horror stories.

Thanks guys I'm still stuck on what to get and mine are getting low :(

Mine must be the standard ones then because they only cost me around 20 bucks,

They suit me and I wenr on the back lanes around here last night and they didn't do too bad even with a tuning lol they do alright :)

Does anybody know if DS2500 pads are available for a 06 Fabia Estate 1.9tdi? OEM pads just can't handle the heat I put in to them when driving across the Moore's to work. If not available what fast road pads would I be able to get? I know EBC pads are available but they just got slated above.

I would recommend Mintex M1144 fast road compound. Good cold bite, excellent hot performance but they fade on a track day on a heavy car. No problem on my seven. Mintex M1155 and even 1166 are available for track race applications with even less cold bite but better hot performance. Personally would'nt touch them for the road. To dangerous cold. DS2500 are great on track but need to be warmed up a bit. Overall M1144 are the best compromise for fast road. EBC are comparable to Chinese no name copies in my experience. I'd rather chuck out a breeze block on a rope when I need to slow the car.

I normally say Mintex or Ferrodo. I have EBC Green Stuff all round and have no problems stopping. As mentioned above, Ferrodo DS2500 are 'Track day/racing only' pads and are not technically road legal.

People may also recommends OEM Skoda pads, however I've had some de-laminate on our other Fabia.

Hi

Is there anywhere people would recommend to get replacement pads and discs?

Thanks

For oe quality TPS, ECP, your local motor factor, for brand name pads your local factor may be able to get them (a lot will have access to the full range of mintex stock) or an on-line retailer/ebay.

When I had 312's I had green stuff first, they just felt awful, maybe I wasn't getting them hot enough? I don't drive like a loon. Then I replaced them with the cheapest things I could find, Delph I think they were. Worked ok, no issues really. Then I got my 323's so it's not fair to compare. My mate uses DS2500's or Mintex if his skint, he drives like a nutter and preferred the DS but didn't moan with the Mintex.

Remember the cars that the 312's come off, it'll be pretty overbraked, the little fabia will stop pretty well with any pads in it tbh, it's only with sustained heavy braking they'll get worked hard.
