Front knocking

Featured Replies

Hey

Ive been looking round the site to get the answer but this subjust alway seems to come to the arb bushes and the consol bushes. I've replaced both. Lol

I've got a knocking noise over rough ground. I was hoping the mot would have picked something up but no such luck. So had a look round tonigh and everything seems fine? The only thing I can think of is the wishbone bushes, but I'm not sure about changing these coz not sure if I would have to take the wishbones out again?

Anyone got any ideas?

It's a vrs standard suspension and wheels

Cheers :-)

Could be your top mount on top of the suspension leg dude

Third for drop links

Just wondering,

If I was to take the wheel off and have a look, how would I know if the drop link has gone or is it just a change them and see approach, Iv been told that if your car is lowered then it's best to put for Puma ones on because they are shorter.....? Is this true? Cheers

I can hear clonking on mine, but Iv only just power flexed the front wishbone rear bushes and the others are fine so but confused lol

Turn your wheel onto full lock so you can access the drop link.

Push and pull the droplink. It it has any play in it, it's gone.

Mine had a similar issue. Changed droplink as a matter of course, but upon tightening the last bolt, noticed a little play in the arb:

Arb bracket (the one with the bush in it) bolts were slightly loose. Tightened, and no knocking.

I had to do my bushes recently and chose to replace the full wishbone, both sets of bushes, ball joint's and the drop links, in fairness I could have just done the console bushes and the drop links but for the minimal cost (everything apart from the Powerflex bushes cost me £50.30) but knowing my luck i'd end up having to do a ball joint and one look at the condition of the nuts made me think it was worth spending a small amount more to do the lot at the same time. They're a easy to change, support the car on an axle stand, take the wheel off, undo the top and bottom bolt (you shouldn't need to apply a jack to the bottom of the ball joint but it can help) then swap over and tighten up the nuts, again you may want to use a jack to make it easy to push the new bolts through.
