"Octavia RS" frosted stickers on rear windows

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

When I bought my Octavia VRS Mk 1 a few days ago, I saw that it had some quite huge (awful) 'frosted style' stickers saying "Octavia RS" on the rear passenger door windows ......... the seller assured me that these were stock and fitted from new, although apparantly many Skoda dealerships never fitted them to new cars, knowing that customers wouldn't like them one bit!

Is this true, or have I been 'had' ? :bandit:

........ and the real point of this post ------> can anyone suggest a strategy for removing these 11 year old stickers, without making a gooooey mess on the windows that then won't come off ?!

Cheers.

....did Skoda really put these things on as standard ?!

I had a 51 plate Octavia vrs a good few years ago

No stickers in the windows

Nveer seen this at all. Sounds like a blag. Only ones Ive seen are the 'oh no not another great skoda' or 'its a skoda, honest' stickers on the tailgate glass in the corner.

Ive also got a 'Volkswagen group' sticker just above the boot lock.

A hair dryer and some IPA alcohol your best bet.

Almost definitely

Almost definitely not

:D

Definately not standard from new.

I would warm them up with a hair dryer, peel them off as best you can and then scrub off any residue with surgical spirit and a microfibre cloth.

+1 to Chicken Eyebrows method. Might take some elbow grease as well to get it all off though.

Autosmart Tardis should eat through it quite happily and at the same time something else you can add to your detailing kit.

I'm a fan of the razor blade method, has never let me down on much elbow grease needed either if any lol

I've never seen any like that :) Bought mine new and no stickers were stuck. Apart from a DM Keith one in the rear window which lasted until 2 mins after I drove it home :)

Thanks for all the replies guys.... the guy I bought the car off was really genuine in every other regard, so I reckon he must of been 'had' by the previous owner I guess! .......... I did strongly suspect such horrible stickers weren't stick.

Will get that hairdryer, surgical spirit and m/f cloths out, and get them off!

Cheers!

Deffo mate, they look gash!

Flat stantly blade and auto smart tarsus. Polish the glass after your finished with the likes of AG window polish

Meths will get the left over gooooey mess off all ok.

Or best of all, Tar Remover to remove the glue residue. It contains toluene.

Heat and wd40 should do the job.

Well the stickers are off! ..... got impatient and had a blade at home, so gave it a try - the stickers came off no problem, but as expected have left a lot of old gluey residue. Will pick up some Tar Remover over the weekend.

So glad they're off.. Meh!
