Tuning software

Featured Replies

Hi all

Anyone any thoughts?

Ive got 2 performance maps and the original map for my fabia vrs. I want to go back to my other tuned map as opposed to the tuned one thats on it. I know you can use kpps and galletto software that come with the leads but im not overally convinced by them as from what i gather they wont perform a checksum, will they??

Anyone any thoughts on my best way round this??

Where did you get the maps from, and how were they flashed to your car?

One is from blacksmoke and he provided the ecu other is from uk chip tuning or sommat or other . Second option was done through obd2 port.

Will the guys who did the work not redo the previous one?

I know the guy who did mine has my original and would return the car to standard.

They did the standard file and one tuned. The one im asking them to put on isnt theirs. Not sure how theyd take it really.

If im honest id prefer to have something like a bluefin so I have flexibilty or even a dtuk but again I welcome advice.

Sounds like you may have to take the pain and pay again or put up with what you've got.

I used a reasonably priced place at top end of north yorks.

Will have to see. Might just be easier to buy the software for my laptop and then I can swap and choose at least. I ll let you know how I get on. Btw what car or cars do you run?

Cheers for that.

It's the checksum that's the baby like, won't start without it. I've not used any software or leads but it intrigues me a little as i used to play with tv cards and software.

I've only got a 5Y fabia 1.4 tdi 80 (bnv) its my daily, but i'm itching to get/play with a mk1 vrs.

It intrigues me also. Ive had many say they are fine so long as both battery supplies are good. The files need to be good etc. ie from trusted known source.

I must admit i love the fabia vrs for all round performance . Brilliant on fuel, power and comfort etc. the octy i had was good for power and fuel didnt really drop under low 30s mpg .

Have you had performance cars?

Guy who did mine, just read the original, tweaked it and punted it back with the appropriate checksum.

Not had performance cars at all.

Been driving 26yrs, owned 9 cars in 22yrs plus 3 company cars.

Like to fix stuff/service it myself and have a tendancy to tinker.

Need to get interface and software and expand my understanding.

I must admit im a bit of a speed junky at times, ive been into trading cars for a while but decided to settle on the fab vrs as it is by far the best all rounder we have had. We usually get a second as a trade on car and work up through that.

I do love performance cars and always end up with a scooby when i want outright aggressive power. Last one i bought was dyno'd at 315 bhp . Very quick but very thirsty , sold it on after few month before it bankrupt me lol

I've got a galletto and kwp clone. Their good tools. They are great for reading/writing. Kwp is better for recovery.

However that's all they do. If you want the software used for reading maps and updating checksums then get your cheque book out lol.

So are both maps off your current car/ecu? If so then no checksum is needed. You only need to update the checksum when you make changes to the map.

Messed up the quote there lol.

But to thr bit about mk1 octy vrs.

Def recommend one for a toy. Plenty fun and so easy to tune up and being a 20v quite reasonable on fuel too.

Get one bought lol

Then no need to worry about checksums. If your every down my end I can swap them for you.
