Yeti wheel arch kit

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anyone fitted the wheelarch extensions as seen on the new Urban special edition?

I got a quote from the dealer at £204.50 plus £52 for adhesive; they wanted nearly £200 to fit them!

I was interested at round about the £300 mark all in but almost £500.........!

If they are easy to DIY then I may reconsider

many thanks

Mine cost similar 18 months ago. I would let the dealer do it for 2 reasons:

1) I didn't have a garage - it's best to let it dry inside

2) Mine has fallen off 2 or 3 times over the last 18 months, I doubt Skoda would cough up another kit if it wasn't fitted by the dealer and covered under 2 years warranty for parts and accessories.

Hi,

By how much do the extensions extend the wheel arch?

Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem if you have the Urban but note that the kit cannot be fitted to a car with park assist as it obscures the side sensors.

About 3mm!!

They are just thinnish plastic, and not extensions outwards, more a cover for the edges.

Agreed, but I think there is one here who cut a circular hole to match where the sensors was, and then fitted them.

Hi,

Just 3mm! That won't keep the car much cleaner. Sound cosmetic rather than functional. I guess I'll go for the mudflaps. I see there are wider flaps on eBay - does anyone have experience of these?

Thanks in advance

Seen a Yeti outside a Dealers workshop waiting to have damaged wheelarch extensions replaced.

Looked like it had come adrift from a side swipe. No real damage to metalwork other than broken

wheelarch extension, so would normally be a straight plastic part replacement.

But in this case the shearing of the adhesive had taken a large lump of paint off the bodywork (outside the area covered by the extension), metalwork not dented, so probably an expensive respray repair.

I suppose they can't be fitted with sticky pads to avoid the problem?

If the glued on one's fall off easily at least you can easily stick them back on if just sticky tape involved.

Correct, they are cosmetic, but do protect the edge of the wheel arch.

Do you have a link to these "wider" mudflaps?

To seal them against the body you would need a lot of tape!! Otherwise the muck and water would get behind them.

They're not wheel arch extensions such as flared, stick on off-roady things, more side super market parking damage and panel edge gravel damage limiting bits of trim.

They only come off if they're not stuck on properly in the first place.
