Featured Replies

Hi peeps

Im looking to buy a 2009 octavia vrs. Which engine does it have, TFSI or FSI??? Or are they the same? Im getting really

confused as some sites say Octavia 2.0T FSI and others have 2.0 TFSI. Also i cant seem to find much info on either engines so if anyone could provide me with a link that would be great.

Thanks

Facelift has TSI engine, pre-Facelift has TFSI engine. Could be either based on the year you've given.

And then there is the very awkward situation where very late pre-FL models also had the TSI engine fitted :)

Look in the fuel filler flap. If it's says 98 (95) RON then it's a tfsi engine. If simply 95 RON then the later T fsi engine.

Including the pre fl limited edition vRS

Is it not Turbo Supercharged Fuel Injected.

This configuration is common in the smaller engined Octy (ie; 1.4 etc) imho.

So, what's the differance between tfsi & Tfsi?

Caps lock?

Oil dipstick location helps with identification. Is it at the front or the side?

the facelift vrs has the "TSI" (CCTA EA888) engine.

- TSI Trans CCZA ROW 2.0 TFSI 147kW (200 PS)

the pre-facelift has the "TFSI" (BWA EA113) engine

- FSI Trans BWA ROW 2.0 TFSI 147kW (200 PS)

they r a number of different components. the most obvious visual difference is the air-intake piping, and the position of the oil dipstick.

Yep, as you can see - the TSI engine helpfully has TSI written on the engine cover. That should pretty much clear it up!

So where does the 2010 2.0l vRS CCZA engine enter the frame?

Yeah, that would be it.

Mine is an '06 TFSI (or even a tfsi if you prefer it that way) and states 98RON on the fuel flap, and looks like the engine in the upper pic, dipstick to the front. This is the older engine.

Why not just look at the engine, it says TSI on the cover of mine?

Because I have never seen the TSI engine until just now, but yes that's the obvious answer!

CCZA engine is a 2.0 TSI, TFSI actually stands for Turbo Fuel Stratisfied Injection (or something very similar)

So the CCZA engine is not fuel Stratisfied?

TFSI-Turbocharged Fuel Stratisfied Injection.

TSI-Turbocharged Stratisfied Injection.

Facelift VW SEAT SKODA Models use the later TSI set up. I have yet to understand why AUDI still use the older TFSI set up. AUDI usually use the best set up's maybe the TSI is cheaper to produce....Just a theory.

Am I right in thinking the TSI has a cam chain instead of a belt and is cheaper to maintain?

Not according the service training manual it isn't. It's just a marketing name.

Yes TSI is chain not belt like the TFSI.

So where does the 2010 2.0l vRS CCZA engine enter the frame?

North America (NA) - MK5/MK6 2.0 TSI Engines

- CCTA

- CBFA

CCT and CBF denote the engine's mechanical structure. IE, secondary injection (CBF) vs non secondary injection (CCT).

A, the 4th letter, denotes the power output for the calibration, ie both rated in the us for 207ft-lb/200hp.

Rest Of the World (ROW) - MK6, FL vRS and A3 2.0 TSI Engines

- CCZA - A3, vRS

- CCZB - MK6

CCZ denotes the european mechanical structure.

A and B denote a software calibration change for different power levels.

A denotes the 200HP (147kW) calibration. B denotes the 210HP (155kW) calibration.

VAG Engine variants

- TSI Trans CBFA NA 2.0 TSI 200 HP

- TSI Trans CCTA NA 2.0 TSI 200 HP

- TSI Trans CCZA ROW 2.0 TSI 147kW (200 PS)

- TSI Trans CCZB ROW 2.0 TSI 154kW (210 PS)

- TSI Trans CAWB ROW 2.0 TSI 147 kW (200 PS)

- FSI Trans BPY NA 2.0 TFSI 200 HP

- FSI Trans BWA ROW 2.0 TFSI 136 kW (185 PS)

- FSI Trans BWA ROW 2.0 TFSI 147kW (200 PS)

- FSI Trans BYD ROW 2.0 TFSI 169kW (230 PS)

- FSI Trans BWJ ROW 2.0 TFSI 177kW (241 PS)

- FSI Trans BHZ ROW 2.0 TFSI 195kW (265 PS)

just to be clear, all VAG brands are using the 2.0 TSI engine, just some brands (Audi, Skoda) call it a TFSI engine, and the others (VW, Seat) call it a TSI engine!

the exception is the Sportier models which are using a varient of the older 2.0 TFSI, which comes with a K04 turbo
