Windscreen stress cracks?

Featured Replies

Has anyone had a screen crack without any impact damage? I know lots of people have had delamination but this is definately a stress crack slap bang in the middle at the bottom.

I do drive hard but I'd expect the shell to be reasonably rigid

Pic?

Funny enough.... As an 18 year old I was actually stopped by the police for jumping over a hump back bridge! As I got air the side of the range rover lit up like Blackpool in my cibies ;) those were the days! Took him ages to catch up - I did slow as I saw the blues in the distance. Think I must have spoiled his sleep at 3am in really busy west Cumbria

You don't always get a chip - sometimes you just get a crack if it's close to the edge.

Cibies never heard that name in years must be a day for old things, Got to get my hands dirty on a minted E reg manta gte.

Mint mantas are few and far between unfortunately :( nearly as rare as my alfa 75 twinny. When was the last time you saw one on the road? About 1993 I bet.

To properly appreciate a Manta you need a mullet, jacket sleeves rolled up Miami-vice style and Lionel Ritchie playing on the stereo.

Had a screen that split up the middle on a Clio. Split was about 8" and went up from the bottom of the screen. Screen had been fitted too tight. Replacement was fine for the following 4yr.

Heat and cold extremes can cause cracks and shattering, m8 found that out washing his cossie in the sun lol

Had a pair on my now-famous Superspeed V6 Escort, rally style!
